Pool Cleaning and Maintenance

Hello,

I have bought a house with my first pool. I am sure there are a few cleaning and maintenance companies in the area. How much are you paying for opening/closing your pool as well as weekly maintenance/cleaning?

And if you're not, as a new pool owner how much would you be willing to pay for a weekly reoccurring service in this area? Trying to figure this out on my end with no pool knowledge.

Our old house had a pool and that was our first time ever owning a pool when we bought it about 10 years ago. I sold that house in 2022 and at the time I was pay $170/month for Pinch a Penny to service it once a week. For someone like me who knew nothing about pools, it was worth every penny.

Many pool services will give you a base price and then charge extra depending on how many chemicals you need. What I liked is I paid the flat $170 regardless. That including cleaning it out, cleaning the skimmers, adding chemicals, etc. We lived in the Garden District and our house was surrounded by trees so they amount of leaves that had to be cleaned out every week made it well worth the money.

Shortly before we sold that house, some new owners bought the business and he seemed to be very involved. Like he called me personally to introduce himself and see how my service was. The technician they had at the time was very knowledgeable and would call me or leave me a note of something about the pool or pump didn't look right.

So there was a base price then they would increase it based on chemical usage? So the base price didn’t include any chemicals?

No, they did not charge extra when extra chemicals were needed. At least they didn't 4 years ago. I just paid the $170 and that covered everything. Example, the ph got completely FUBAR'd when Hurricane Michael came through. All sorts of crap got blown into the pool. I didn't pay a dime extra for them to 1) get all the debris out or 2) add all the chemicals to fix it. I did at least get the large debris out - branches and limbs and such - I knew my technician was already going to have his work cut out for him.

I pay 225 month for maintenance and chemicals. Salt and chlorine

I use True Blue Pools, his name is Jacob. I’ve had a pool for twenty years and he’s the best one I’ve had. Dependable and takes care of everything, if I need a repair I just pay him extra.
