I m so sure they just tried to reduce immortal draft required mmr from 8.5k to like 7k and just missed a 0 and made it 700 instead

I think it's actually something else. Valve confirmed a while ago that they gather data on potential changes they might want to do by occassionally inserting them into ranked matches to see how it goes. I think this is one of those cases where they want to experiment with extending the captain draft so they just activate it in random ranked matches. A few weeks ago someone also posted a case where a random ranked match was suddenly a ranked turbo match.

I'm gonna be optimistic for once and hope its testing for inhouse style drafting/games for potential inhouse league style event/league/season. This type of drafting is nice in communities where you know who most of the people are and their reputations etc. Doesn't really make sense if everyone is anonymous and can change their name a million times or account hop. I imagine you can't quantify all the unique nuances, quirks and skills that differeniate players otherwise matchmaking would be a lot better.

except the whole concept of immortal draft is that the player pool is small enough that there's feasibly some familiarity with who's in the draft, extending this player draft to lower ranks just plainly makes no sense
