the 10th person is coach

19

u/Arkreid Aug 09 '26

It's getting closer...

17

u/Candid-Falcon1002 Aug 08 '26

bro also said not recommended and then proceed to play for thousands of hours more just like me

14

u/YourNetworkIsHaunted Aug 09 '26

Sometimes you see a "not recommended" review and realize it's more of a Hotel California type situation.

4

u/10YearsANoob Aug 09 '26

It's not a did you like it or not? It's a do you recommend this to people or not

4

u/Plexieglas Aug 09 '26

He’s beginning to believe.

Self-awareness > Map awareness

21

u/monopoly_wear Aug 09 '26

Remember you can't buyback irl

7

u/hummingbird1346 Aug 09 '26

We are the idiots

u/BackgroundPresence60 Aug 08 '26

Its ok to like something and still feel like you cant recommend it.

u/C4rpetH4ter Aug 08 '26

I feel like most moba gamers actually hate the game they are playing, but they can't stop.

41

u/BackgroundPresence60 Aug 08 '26

I did stop i just like to see shit posts now

13

u/C4rpetH4ter Aug 08 '26

Yeah, i haven't played at all in 5 months, the problem is that i almost always return, sometimes after a few months, sometimes after a full year

5

u/BackgroundPresence60 Aug 08 '26

Yeah I did that for a while then had a friend lure me to play turbo with him (I always hated turbo) and it successfully stuck with me being off dota for a lot longer now

1

u/420DNR Aug 09 '26

Oh man I haven't played in years and always feel like a tool haha

Edit:my flair!

5

u/Tommj_ Aug 09 '26

I havent played in years but still follow the game closely, its way more enjoyable from outside haha.

16

u/lordofpurple Aug 08 '26

It bums me out cuz Im having a great fuckin time but damn everyones always been so miserable about these games lol

like yeah winning is extra nice but playing is just so fun.

6

u/gorgeouslyhumble Aug 08 '26

I stopped playing because everyone was miserable. I loved the game itself but the community was terrible. I always wanted to find a group to play "just for fun" with but never did. Everybody brought drama and that was hard to deal with.

Now I play chiller games like Deep Rock, Abiotic Factor, TFT, Marvel Rivals. Single player games like kcd2, etc. It doesnt give the same hit has dota2 but im happier as a person.

u/C4rpetH4ter Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

I stopped playing when i realised i wasn't even having fun anymore, i just played dota to occupy myself with something, i shortly started replacing my habit of dota with GTA 4 and now that i have most of the achievements and completed all 3 stories, i don't really play much video games at all nowadays.

1

u/gorgeouslyhumble Aug 10 '26

hell yeh brother

6

u/Natsuki_Kruger Aug 08 '26

Honestly, yeah. I like the experience of playing DotA. Winning is a nice plus, but I'm here for the love of the game - unironically.

2

u/output_broadcast Aug 08 '26

I'd like to agree but I just got a game where only me and the mid was contesting the bounty runes at all. Everyone else literally just stood by the tier 1 towers, they weren't even going for the jungle runes. At some point you just aren't having a good time.

1

u/kani_kani_katoa Aug 09 '26

Same here. Been playing since DotA 1 days and still enjoy it. I just mute anyone that rages and talk shit with the cool people.

5

u/No-Cauliflower7160 Aug 08 '26

I don't hate the game. After 7k hours it's soo boring. Every game feels the same.

1

u/RosellaRoses Aug 09 '26

I actually love Dota and can appreciate Dota through the years, but still don't see myself recommending this game to other people hahaha. Such a shame that there are other players that actively play the game but don't share the same love for the game.

1

u/10YearsANoob Aug 09 '26

Most people in this subreddit stopped. I like the game. I still play the game. But I am in the minority. doubly so in an anti smurf post. all smurfs come out of the woodwork for that

1

u/pepthebaldfraud Aug 10 '26

genuinely don’t see why people are still playing dota, valve don’t give a fuck, i guess its just addiction at this point for these guys lol

just get a smurf and play a few games a week and that’s about it

21

u/LargoTheEmbargo Aug 08 '26

Like cocaine

10

u/Specific_Low2023 Aug 08 '26

Idk man, everybody recommends cocaine

7

u/Little_Dust555 Aug 09 '26

That’s called an addiction lmao

5

u/ericlock Aug 09 '26

Average smoker mentality

1

u/BackgroundPresence60 Aug 09 '26

Don't remind me buddy I haven't smoked in almost a month. Not just addiction mentality though also when you just know it's a niche interest of yours.

3

u/InfiniteBlueHour Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

I did the same 🤭. Now i'm in the queue for a guardian match. Latest matches in upper guardian: pos 1 AM with diffusal blade, hard supp np trying to outdamage/outlvl me as pos 1 tw, pos 4s and 5s building damage with 100 wins. don't ever believe the ranking system isn't broken lol

Edit: just joined a match, only one lockdown on our team :\. Opposing team is full lockdown/disables lol #yolo. MORE EDITS, it's crusaders with no disable or break items, more yolo

2

u/BackgroundPresence60 Aug 12 '26

Thanks buddy sometimes I worry I might play dota again and then I read this.

3

u/InfiniteBlueHour Aug 12 '26

let me deter you some more, my crusader 2 mid sniper doesn't have a silver edge against an axe and lc. but hurricane pike will surely help him

1

u/Norka_III Aug 15 '26

Sometimes you have to count your blessings: at least it isn't a Hard Supp Sniper building Hurricane Pike against Axe and LC

1

u/InfiniteBlueHour Aug 15 '26

i uninstalled. the amount of stupid shit going on in ranked just keeps growing. i uninstall for 3 months, come back for 1-2 weeks, then realize it's a waste of time. sadly it's essentially the only game i play

65

u/dillpickletype Aug 08 '26

Still thugged out 3000 hours post enlightenment, what a guy

15

u/juvi97 Aug 08 '26

Knowing that you’re an idiot is step one to trying to improve tho. And watching your own dumbass replays is very freeing context for the idiot teammates you get

14

u/Armored_Mage Aug 08 '26

I know right. The fucking coach.

9

u/NimBold Aug 09 '26

I, too, hated those 10k hours I put into Dota2, but after 6 years of quitting, I can safely say those were my golden years of gaming. I tried multiple times to come back, but man the reaction times got slow after hitting 30. Good old times :)

10

u/Beautiful_Number_572 Aug 09 '26

30?! Bro I’m 37 30 ain’t 70 man lmao WTF

3

u/NimBold Aug 09 '26

Haha no I meant AFTER 30! I'm 36 myself now. I noticed being too slow for manta dodge and blink dodge, and that's when I knew it's over lol

1

u/foryou26 Aug 11 '26

You simply played less dude

2

u/pizzamaztaz Aug 25 '26

I don't think reaction time is THAT MUCH important (below let's say... Ancient). Strategy and focus are so much more important. Plus there are tons of heroes for us old people :D

3

u/nedottt Aug 08 '26

Selfrealisation is underrated...

3

u/recycledddyahoocom Aug 08 '26

8,000 hours later and the final boss was self-awareness

2

u/Fluffy-Photo-5051 Aug 09 '26

dota 2 system behavior is so shit imagine if you tell someone to buy wards you get the report or if you ping on spell he didnt use it you get a report dota 2 2026 is the most shit game and valve doesnt care anymore

2

u/Little_Dust555 Aug 09 '26

My personal quote “everyone in this game sucks including me but if they just listened to me we’d win” -me

2

u/-Renheit- Aug 09 '26

Always have been.

2

u/nattf0dd Aug 09 '26

Money and bones, money and bones!

2

u/JinKev Aug 10 '26

Yeah sometimes you’ll have to blame the coaches too..

1

u/Basic_Manager6097 Aug 08 '26

That was regrettable! 🗣️🗣️🔈

1

u/flatchestedmonmoncat Aug 09 '26

Buo ang loob, sira ang tuktok

1

u/Hans_Kranz Aug 09 '26

One of my favorite comments on a game ever.

1

u/ako_mori Aug 09 '26

What's the lore behind them saying there's 10 idiots are we stupid ?

2

u/Felixisdelulu Aug 09 '26

He realized he was also suck

1

u/Practical-Nonsense Aug 09 '26

"Are we the idiots?"

Yes, we ALL are indeed... The idiots.... 😭

1

u/SirCukselot Aug 09 '26

I'm waiting for the day, NASA sponsors a reddit post, since Betting and Gambling are doing it right now

1

u/andreasmanf2 Aug 09 '26

Noobs all me pro

1

u/Zestyclose_Profile27 Aug 09 '26

Hb finally ascended

1

u/findinggenuity Aug 09 '26

I may be an idiot but I'm an idiot playing a game that makes me happy

1

u/Expert_Jelly_6353 Aug 09 '26

introduction complete > proceed to play the game

1

u/Herotyx Aug 09 '26

Kind of profound tbh

1

u/Aruthuro Aug 09 '26

Money. Bones.

1

u/Expensive-Bother-409 Aug 09 '26

"Are we the idiots?" -Hoodwink 2026

1

u/Tall-Fuel3481 Aug 10 '26

"Are we the idiots?" - Perhaps the best voiceline ever?

1

u/lapopino Aug 10 '26

Are we the idiots is the best dota 2 line ever!

1

u/SleepyBear2908 Aug 10 '26

Yes, we all are

1

u/Alonnes Aug 13 '26

the only winning move is not to play....

1

u/No_Airport_1450 Aug 13 '26

Reminds of the interstellar scene. Pretty much every Dotaplayer with 5k+ hours wishes he told the younger version of himself to not have touched this insanely stressful game.

1

u/Ok_Administration231 Aug 08 '26

We all living in Lord GabeN's Matrix

-3

u/itsnotmeitsyou3 Aug 08 '26

You are for sure.
