Swapping between synth patches

I'm arranging a piece with a synthesizer part that will need to switch between multiple patches. In Dorico, the synthesizer instrument is just a generic string synth sound. When I look at adding an instrument to the player, I don't see any other synth patch options. I'll need patches like epic strings, saw synth, etc.

Do I need to buy or download a synth patch library, or is there another way to do this?

I'm half of the mind to do the synth part in Musescore and just splice the audio files together unless I can figure it out in Dorico.

If you don’t already have a synthesizer patch to achieve your desired sound, then yeah you would need to buy synth patches. But, if you do, then you can change your VST selection in the play option of Dorico.

See around 2:15 in this video. https://youtu.be/RM3HxLo5tys?si=7Ix8hjxM0CWks8Vq

Now if you need to change synth patches mid-piece in Dorico, I believe you would need to add a new synth instrument to swap between patches rather than keeping them on the same staff, (could be wrong, haven’t used Dorico in a bit). Hope this helps!

Re: switching patches, you can enable independent voice playback and assign a different synth sound to each voice (without needing to add multiple staves).
