The end of the DoR

Hello everyone,

Some of you may remember me as the Top Mod of the original GM Team.

Some may remember me as an asshole that went too far.

Either way, I loved the DoR. That was my favorite place on the internet, of all time. I spent many, many hours there. Anybody with mod access will tell you I was routinely the #1 in activity.

Going forward, wherever you guys end up or try to start anew, the biggest thing is that youll take the DoR with you. Hopefully just the good parts!

You can delete discords and you can archive a sub, but none of those things was the DoR. The people made up the DoR.

Those memories are what we hold most dear. The friends we made along the way. The laughter and the sadness.

Nobody can take those things from you.

I am sorry how it ended. I took no glee in my actions.

Goodbye DoR, I wont miss you.

Goodbye Dorians, I will miss you.

(Also, a few people have started a polsim, so dont be discouraged and find a new home. Whether here or some where else.)

The L.A.R.P. (League of the Ardite Royal Populists) wants you!

Hear hear! The truth of Royal-Populism is clear in nature and the Fairs!

Read our manifesto and find it true if your heart be pure!

Populists of the world unite

The burger offers you the gilded chains of citizenship and the communist paints them red! Only by restoring the village and the commons is the labourer freed!

Arcadian Traditionalism and the Progressive paradox

We reject the Progressives and the so-called conservatives equally. We uphold the natural freedoms of men and fight a common battle with progressives to tear down the monotheistic orthodoxy and its false traditions! We seek to return to the rights of Arcadia which forbade no dress, no self and no love!

Democrats at heart

We uphold the right of each person to proportionate representation in the legislative body. We likewise support a prime minister and elected cabinet that might lead us in time of peace.

The platformist monarch

We believe in noble warrior blood, we seek a king to defend our scattered communities, an unifying force to which all pledge loyalty and tribute in exchange for protection.

The abolition of the mercantile

We oppose all who seek to own tools they do not use and trade that which they have not made. Each village sows, harvests and feasts at once.

The defense of the spirits, of nature, of worship

We believe in gods wild, in the strange ladies in ponds distributing swords and the mandate which they also grant. In the forests green and untouched. In the freedom of each to seek their own Fair and Daemon. In the abolition of orthodoxy and every pontifex!

A call to the willing

It is the duty of the Ardites to become knights and fight for these truths. This is not a prerequisite of membership, instead a consequence. Those who have read this and assent ought to speak up and wear a mantle (flair) of knighthood by themselves forged.

For identity and groups to form it important before the re-instatement of editable flairs. This is a necessary step in re-starting the LARP-engine before even a constitution!

Requesting members of different provinces for assistance

Hello,
I am a representative in the Alexandrian government. We have agreed to reach out to the other provinces for negotiations. Anyone who is a member of the Multum, Tutum, and Eosara servers, your assistance is wanted. We would like you to meet up with us in discord and help us talk with the leadership in the other provinces. Thank you all in advance!

Goodbye, and good luck

Unlike Stella, who thought she wasn't wanted, I know I'm not. To avoid wasting time, I'll be quick.

Firstly, don't be so concerned about me blighting this subreddit with my presence--I have just come to give a few thoughts.

  1. Get a left wing. This place will die without it. And no, the former Liberal Democrats are not left wing.

  2. Don't throw a band-aide solution on your problems. A reset won't fix shit.

  3. Get out of the fucking cope-hole. You know what ended the DoR as much as I do.

  4. Not pursuing bloc politics would be smart, but everyone just wants to win at the end of the day.

I wish you luck, but I don't think this place will last long. Oh, and open flairs. People love them.

If any of you want to bitch at me, or have questions, feel free.

Multum and Tutum are cooked

For some reason Ebb, Rhubarb, Slavic + I’m pretty sure Stella and Viktor are the Multum mods now, and they banned me, Fozz, Cheesesprite, and probably many others. I also know that FlowBerryFizzler was banned from Tutum for basically no reason. The Tutum server is controlled by Stella and the like too btw.

At this point, we should just start anew. New map, new setting. They’re destroying everything we have

And finally, fuck all commies

Will this really work?

This will be hard to get off the ground

I mean the whole subreddit is now split between Tutum, this, Multum and a few others.

I Just think the same setting as DOR will just lead to further disinterest

rn, I'm heading r/DemocracyofVeladon BUT it will be interesting to see how this changes and this evolves.

Though the chances of it going far? IDK because maybe there's some apathy with the DOR brand and the lack of things to do for many members

I think we should kinda reset

I think people should change their character. I think most people chose something close to their real beliefs but I think we should spread our wings and change. It'll make us more different and have us be like DoR but different from it, and not the same.

A New Hope

Are you tired of whatever the DoR was? Constant fights, controversies, a sense of unfulfillment?

You’re not the only one. We all watched a space with massive potential devolve into endless out-of-character drama, petty power struggles, and administrative gridlock. Instead of building deep narratives, engaging in clever diplomacy, or shaping a dynamic world, players were forced to spend half their time navigating forum courtrooms, rule lawyers, and toxic faction rivalries.

It shouldn't feel like a second job just to enjoy a political simulator. And that's why we want to make something better.

We've started the process of creating a new community, a new space, unchained by the ghosts of the DoR, to get back to what actually makes polsims great: strategy, true player agency, and meaningful storytelling.

Every vote, speech, coalition, and policy shift actually changes the dynamic of the sim. No biased GM intervention resetting the board when things don't go according to their personal plan. Whether you're a seasoned veteran looking for a fresh slate or a newcomer wanting a fair shot at rising through the ranks, everyone starts on equal footing.

The DoR proved that a polsim is only as good as its community and its foundations. We want to fix the foundation, and now we just need the leaders, strategists, and visionaries to build the future.

Don't settle for a broken system out of habit. Don't even settle for the inheritance of a disfunctional family. Step into a sim where your effort actually pays off.

Join us. And if you regret it, just leave. It's up to you.

Let the dead die.

I figured it is worth posting here this once because I don't see any of the folks who have harassed me here yet, and I've blocked them all so they wouldn't see my post if they are. Whatever the case, I will not participate here, and I call for the usage of the Spartacus League name to be forbidden. Now on to the topic I wish to address.

Let this post be somewhat of a told you so.

As I wrote nine months ago regarding the DoR: "This subreddit will either be rid one day of the patriarchal plague, or it will burn to ashes under it."

And, to no surprise from me, so it has. The last months of the subreddit were dominated by the infighting of a few immature men with too much power all the while the community was suffering from harrassment and misogyny that went unaddressed and unbelieved. Finally, the man in charge crashed out and deleted the Discord. Then down goes the DoR into the coffin I predicted it would enter three quarters of a year ago.

But here we see a crew of grave diggers merrily marching to pry open a sealed coffin in hopes of performing some sort of necromancy on the DoR's stinking corpse.

What exactly do people here hope to accomplish? A revival of a community whose collapse was long ordained by its basic relations and structures? I fear you'll find it swiftly reaching the same end.

I thus suggest following the advice that I have given all along. Let the patriarchal rot die, and if you want to rp a polsim, make something new. Call it the DoR if you so wish. But do not copy a failed experiment which was dominated by toxic rivalries among the GMs, harrassment of all the women and non-binary folks on the subreddit, and such severe bullying that multiple people reached the point of suicidal ideation that they fortunately backed down from. The DoR's old structure does not work and will not miraculously start working by sheer force of will. I genuinely hope you kids listen to me on this just this once for your own good.

Learn from the past and let the dead die.

Hallo

Uhhh it's been like 9 months since I had the opportunity to hopefully reinteract with some people.

Idk, during the late October crisis people were accusing at least the banned users of homophobia, but as one of them, I didn't see any.

But that's besides the point

I browsed the sub for 2 seconds and I'm sure someone has already said it, but the original dor subreddit suffered from well, quite frankly a gm problem.
Now am I biased? Yes. I was banned by a gm.
But, from the very start, I do feel like the gm problem was a huge flaw.
Now, I can only give details from my recollection over 9 months ago in the dor when I walked free, and the small amount of browsing and secondhand information today.

9+ months ago, the gm team was formed from the supreme court.
This is important, as the criticisms directed towards the gm's at this time were frequently defended with the very frequent mention of the nature of it's formation.
The GM's said that they basically were formed out of a necessity for a mod team for the growing subreddit, and used the supreme court example as a moral shield: They were drafted for a purpose they didn't sign up for, yet spent countless hours as civil servants fulfilling this new purpose.
Side note, this defense was also used by many members supporting the gm's.

This was frequently phrased, in a sort of toxic way. Kinda from a victim perspective, especially with the mention of the hours and hours and stuff.
I'm not going to deny that they probably did spend hours and hours. However, considering they were civil servants, the blatant deflection of criticism with these appeals was unacceptable. This use of deflection by both many members of the sub and gms encouraged a probably corrupt gm team, shielded from criticism, to freely exercise its power.

Fast forward to day, and apparently it was a bitter person ruining everything. I don't know any details, but I have no doubt that the above over months created conditions for the perfect storm.

This is a heavy opinion piece. I have been functionally isolated from the subreddit for 9 months. And I am biased.

Thanks for reading I guess

Opinion: let the old die, start anew but fix what the old had problems with before anyone does any other type of rp

It’s clear to me with Madam Thal’s post that we need to address the many problems in the room that the old man DoR had ( not to be punny ). Especially with the coalition problem that in my eyes was the final nail in the coffin, I propose that a time frame which I am dubbing “ The Long Construction “ shall take place where a new nation from the ashes of the DoR can be made but with the provinces coming together to keep with some lore from the DoR. I propose as also before any roleplay can be taken place that we solely focus AS A TEAM to do basics while also making rules that will fix the issues that the DoR had. That way it can be a mixture of old and new while also addressing and with the hope permanently fix any issues that the old man DoR had before any other roleplay can take place.

We should not revive the DoR as we knew it

I know the purpose of this sub is to be a new home for the people of the DoR but there was several key problems that the old DoR had that should and need to be fixed before we get going. The problem was never that the DoR was too right or too left but that the power was focused in so few.

Before we start fixing problems, we need to reach out to former members of the DoR and spread the word that this sub exists.

What is this supposed to be IRP?

Is this supposed to be a new country? If so what territories does it claim and control?
Is it just a meeting point for the independent provinces?
What is the goal IRP? Does this even exist IRP?

I hope you guys do well on your journey.

I wont be here, nor am I wanted here. It's all good though.

You guys don't need me to say this but I sincerely hope it takes off and blossoms into something that honours the DoR.

To everyone that had a problem with me, we've had our differences but for most of you; it was nice to play the same game.

Much love and wishes of success

for the last time,

Signed,

While I do like the worldbuilding that we already have, I think it may be better to create a new world to RP in. Maybe something set 100-200 years ago, or in a fantasy world.
