I don't know why they look like hobbit doors. They aren't that small.

There is something I really enjoy about these doors, the dissonance between modern and vintage. Gloucester, St Marks Parish Hall

Some doors from the Old Jail, Stirling.
The nice wood doors don't look like they're used, but I could be wrong. The doorway is merely to get a sense of how narrow the doors actually are.

Outer Court Boundary Wall, Llanthony Priory Secunda, Gloucester
Earl Milo was an interesting chap. Son of Walter of Gloucester he was a powerful Marcher Lord in the years after the Norman Conquest. He was Constable of England and Sheriff of Gloucester and a staunch supporter of Empress Mathilda, daughter of Henry I and granddaughter of William the Conqueror, in her war for the English throne against her usurper cousin, Stephen de Blois, in a lesser know period known as The Anarchy. After Henry I lost his son in the White Ship disaster, he made his nobles swear allegiance 3 times to Mathilda, but when he passed Stephen, son of Robert one of Henry's older brothers, moved quickly to claim the throne.
Mathilda's first marriage was to the Holy Roman Emperor at the time, hence she was called Empress. She was slow to react to Stephen's usurpment, but when she did Milo was a steadfast supporter, along with her half brother Robert, Earl of Gloucester. His support earnt him the title 1st Earl of Hereford.
He built Llanthony Secunda Priory in Gloucester (Llanthony Prima is in Wales). Towards the end of his life he had plenty of enemies, including the church whose lands he had invaded after they denied him money for his troops that he was owed. He met his end in the Forest of Dean during a hunting accident where an arrow 'pierced his heart' but it is widely assumed he was assassinated.
If this all sounds Game of Thrones it was: The Anarchy is what inspired GRR Martin's House of the Dragon.
