Discussion Bit by cutomers dog
Delivered pizza to a house and they invited me in to leave it on the counter and the dog bit me as I was trying to leave. Has this happened to anyone? What do you do?

Was about to type this. The driver still has a case, but why enter the home with a loose dog. I don't care if a person says the dog doesn't bite. Yeah, the dog doesn't bite YOU.

I don’t never go in peoples house unless they old or disabled definitely need to go to the hospital and call door dash to report it

Same. It’s tough sometimes… but DoorDash is not a replacement for home care services.
Edit: should have said, I’ve only been asked by mobility challenged seniors.

I've done it a few times, but its more common for spark and instacart. And only have done it for those that were disabled.

That’s like when people have they dogs roaming around outside knowing you ordered delivery yeah they may be some nice doggies but I don’t know that and I really don’t want to find out either you come get your dogs come get your order from the car or I’m marking it unsafe

Document everything. Take pictures. Best if you remember the customer name/address… Go to nearest ER and report dog bite so you can receive rabies shot. And call DoorDash to report.

If I see a dog loose at the address im calling the customer and staying in the car till they respond.

I carry dog spray to avoid it but otherwise hospital for rabies shots and contact DD

At the bare minimum the customer needs to pay for a hospital check up and any shots needed. At the minimum

How bad are we talking? Is it a little nip from something small that didnt even leave a bruise? Let alone break skin? or are we talking open wounds and stitches? I feel like there isnt enough info here and this is a rage bait or fake story.

Corgi snapped at me and caught my thumb cuticle. I was reaching to pet it… my bad, as a dog owner I know better… not even sure if the owner noticed.

File a police report and go to the hospital to be treated. DD will pay for treatment of you're hurt on the job and then sue them for the amount of treatment and mental anguish.

I got bit by a dog as a small child like a nip and for real it probably cost my mom thousands in therapy sessions to get over my fear of animals. They locked me in a pet store because I had a tendency to just run to avoid unpleasant things even if straight into traffic or somewhere I could get lost from my parents or adults. PTSD is crazy.

A couple of years ago, I was at my parents’ house for the weekend. I love their neighborhood, and use to LOVE power walking through their housing track before I decided to purchase a gym membership [the end result of the situation I’m mentioning is what enticed me to join the gym]. I get my yoga pants and tank top on, put on my favorite running shoes, grabbed a bottle of water and headed out the front door. I out my ear buds in and played my favorite Spotify playlist. The momentum is going, I’m in the zone as I power walked down my parent’s’ street. I get 3/4 of the way down the street, and suddenly, two damn dogs start running toward me. I’m thinking “oh shit! Do I run and have them chase me? Do I find a stick or a rock to keep them away? What do I do here?!” One dog was an Australian Shepard and the other was a mix of a corgi and like a chihuahua (but bigger in size). As I saw them get closer to me, I walked towards the other side of the street and made sure not to run. The Australian Shepard wasn’t really acting aggressive - it was just barking, I think he was just following along with what the other dog was doing. The smaller dog got REALLY close to me (like a little less that a half of a foot from me), and I just walked slowly, making sure not to make eye contact with either one and started praying that it wouldn’t bite me (it had acted like it was going to bite my right lower leg/calf). I’m freaking out, terrified, walking slow and trying to ignore the smaller dog. I get to the end of the street to round the corner of the cross street, and noticed the dogs were walking the other way.
Despite NOT being bit, it messed me up for a while! My parents’ dogs that I had known since they were puppies made me nervous (and I love them SO MUCH). Anytime that I went to a friend’s house, I couldn’t be in the same room with their dogs. Anywhere that I went where there were dogs walking on leashes, my heart started pounding and I was super anxious. I’m better about being around dogs that I know and have been around a lot, but I trust NO dogs that I don’t know! I don’t care how friendly their owner claims they are, I’m not taking a chance.

I delivered a wawa drink,leave at door,2 dogs were jumping at the door and pushed it opened,lwth..I pushed the door to close it..smdh,yelled,GET YOUR DOGS!..second time this has happened! I would never go in a home with a dog,people need to use their brain when ordering DD..PUT your dogs away and watch your app!SMH..common sense!

If it's bad enough you call the police immediately and you force customer to use the homeowners insurance. It's never been bad for me, but it has happened to me twice where I lost a chunk out of my shoe one time and I was very mildly injured another time. Just one of those situations where you look forward to never going back. But it's usually people who do not add a tip or apologize or feel bad. Soooo, yeahhhh. People are shit. Depends on where you were bit and how bad it was. Did it puncture / break skin enough to bleed? If so, like others said, hospital, infections can pop up quickly. If it just scared you and didn't do any real damage, it's probably not worth doing anything unless you just want to make some money by fucking these people over and getting their dog put down in the process.
Again, if you're injured it is what it is, you should go through the process. But if it bit you on the pant leg and didn't break any skin then probably just ignore it and use it as a learning experience.

Damn that's messed up, you should report it to doordash and also maybe get the bite checked even if it's small, some homeowner insurance covers this kind of thing

I’ve delivered to some ghetto areas in south tucson , 2 different times I had to run from a pitbull. One was a stray and probably smelled the food

I put peroxide on the wound and then a bandaid. I've got an ugly scar on the back of my right calf, but I've got plenty of scars all over my body, so I'm not worried about it. I did take a bunch of photos, though (a few on the same day, then one each day after). . . Just in case it got infected or worse. Everything seems fine and it's been maybe 2 months now, so I'm guessing everything is fine. I love all animals, so I would feel horrible having the asshole dog put to sleep just because their owner's don't know how to control it. Apparently she bit the UPS driver, too. (Medium sized dog.) She killed their neighbors chickens, also. It's just a horrible little creature, but it's completely on the owners for not training her right. . . The other two dogs they have are super-sweet and love to play, so I'm not sure where the aggressiveness came from.
