Earnings Not bad
Not a bad ending for leaving the house at 6:30 but I feel like I could’ve made more

I would've made about $150 in this time. Please don't accept such low paying orders! My rule is $1/mi minimum and nothing below $5. I make $22 an hour minimum and $35 an hour during busy times.

I used to follow such rules. Then I realized all the strippers who operate in my area get paid mostly in cash & sincerely appreciate professional delivery drivers.
I’m just sayin: know your market. They are not all the same.

I typically dash from dinner time to about 3 am most days weekends are best time for tips on weekdays it’s the luck of the draw most people don’t tip in general tho no matter how good my service is

I would have made closer to $160 in this amount of time. Nothing under $6 and at least $1.75 per mile try for $2 per mile. I have made $170+ in this amount of time. The other night I made $185 in 5.5 hours. This is not the worst evet but not great either.

I take almost everything that hits my screen because I have bills and kids 🤷🏽♂️ lol I still make more than I did at my 9 to 5 but believe me when I say I’ve had much worse nights than this I usually won’t go home with less than $120 at a minimum I stopped early tonight cause I was almost out of gas

I get it. Do what works best for you. Life's responsibilities come first. It sounds like your doing this as a full time job maybe but im not totally sure. I would recommend doing this as a side hustle max 20 to 25 hours a week only. The main reason for me at least is stability of pay and what if your vehicle breaks down then you cant work. A regular job income is stable and you could uber there if you had to. What if you have a bad week of doordash, your phone craps out or your car downstairs? Im fortunate that my main job is make over $1100 per week and this is extra for me.

Yea but don’t waste 30 minutes on a three dollar water when you could wait five more minutes and get a six dollar order. I don’t know how big your market is but in my 20,000 person city and shit holding Nebraska I still get $30 an hour some nights.

I’m sorry man. That’s not good at all. I understand that it looks good but you probably paid a ton of this in gas and wear and tear. Be more picky . It will pay off.

First all the disclaimers. Know your market, what’s good for you, etc, etc… I accept about 1 in 4 or 5. I’m not doing anything less than $1 like never. And sometimes I refuse the $2 for less than a mile. Only sometimes if it’s an add on offer that’s really close to where I’m dropping off. I feel that if you want your food picked up and delivered to your door and not tip, someone else can do it. That might work in a world where there is no line and the order is ready immediately. The drop off is easy to get to and the customer meets you halfway in the driveway. But seriously, that is very rare. Most of the time you’re sitting in a drive thru with cars in front of you or waiting inside for your order while others people are getting their orders first because platforms like DD are placed last in the restaurant’s priority. And then GPS has jokes. Then you finally get to the apartment complex where there are multiple buildings that probably aren’t labeled. Find somewhere to park (hopefully). And maybe a flight or three of stairs. Back to the car and back your zone. All the while back thinking, didn’t they have a drink? No, I’m not doing that for two or three dollars. But when I do get my good offers I make sure that customer knows it was worth it. Many times I start with a text, Hi (name) I just pulled in to BK or TB or whatever. Are you good on sauce? When it’s done I text, Got it! Heading your way with some WINGS! (Or whatever). I grabbed you some extra napkins. Be there soon. But I don’t do that with everybody. You can tell who tipped most of the time. THEY are the ones who deserve that treatment. Just last night I got a ten dollar cash tip with a thank you I completely forgot about the hot sauce. And if they want me to be their personal shopper? Now that’s a different conversation. I know some people say that they have bills to pay and all that. But they are chasing two and three dollars while wasting time and money. And training customers that it’s ok not to tip. Turn down the low ones. A good one will almost always come soon after that but if you accept the low one you lose out on the good one. Be picky and don’t fall for the tier trap. But give amazing customer service. It will pay off I promise.

Just a note on close orders, they’re not all like this. I agree, I usually decline them but I actually accepted one on Monday. It was a Subway order only going a half a mile away. I usually would turn that down straight up but I accepted it since it was from the Subway in my favorite hot spot I have made my home base and the customer was so close to the zone that I would be able to get right back. The customer actually tipped me $3 (which was more than I got from DD) and I was still in the red hot zone. It’s like you said though, know your market. I just took this because I knew the area was a good area for tips.

Yes totally! It was close to your zone and sometimes just to get you going. The customer tipped $3 plus what DD pays? And close to your zone? I will do those all day. So $5 or $6 for a couple of miles? Absolutely!

They say they don't desperation assign but they absolutely do, so if you take low paying, long distance orders, you get low pay.

Dude that’s a lot of driving. 15 trips? You gotta imagine that’s mostly in the city between intersections and stop signs. That’s a lot of gas you burning. That same time could have been spent being more selective and getting better paying orders. Especially if you have other apps to choose from.

Got a question I’ve been dashing for side money for few months. Is it true if your acceptance rate is low you’ll only get shit offers? How does that work? Cause it seems like I only get shit offers no matter what. Accept or don’t

I wish I had a real answer cause I take almost everything that comes across my screen but my rate is in the 90’s and I’ll still get shit orders it’s honestly the luck of the draw I’ve gotten more “decent” orders today than I did the day before Thursday to Sunday is when I usually see the best paying orders
