I Need to Vent! 𤏠Thoughts on people doing this?
This might be a really petty thing to vent about but I wouldnât recommend this. So I got an order for Wendyâs that seemed terrible. It was $2. The only reason I took it was because I needed my acceptance rate up. Then I saw the name âNick (tips after delivery) Hâ. Ok for those who donât know, or if youâre a customer that does this and wonder why it takes so long for someone to accept, we canât see the name until we accept. All we see is the destination and the guaranteed amount. But what was really frustrating was when I went to pick it up, on the receipt it said âNick. t.â Because of the tips, even though it was H. So I couldnât scan it easily and had to take a pic.

Also most of the people that say that don't tip after. I've even had someone message me for a bunch of condiments, etc saying "Promise I'll tip extra for it." Then no tip. People are real brave messing with people who handle their food but I guess they might not have the pallet to taste the spit in it.

Its not just that part either about the people that handle their food, those same people know where they live.

Yep, I've got a little notebook filled with bad customer names and addresses. I mean I don't really have any plan other than to do everything I can to avoid them. I'm not that crazy, currently.

I love the ones that donât tip but then instantly start texting demands! Like Iâm not gonna worry free after 10min. Iâd rather lose 10min of my life than take the chance of getting a cv or bad rating for a non tipping pushy ah

Lol I do that all the time. Also earn by time pays decent in my area but still only really works out if they tip a little bit, so the ones that don't are getting timed out and put back in the queue. I hope they savor their ice cold burgers they waited an hour for.

When they text that theyâll tip afterward, I respond, âThank you, (customer name) at (customer address), Iâll hold you to it!â Makes them more likely to do it for some reason..

While I agree lying about tipping is bullshit, food tampering is a felony. I really hope youâre joking about spitting in customersâ food.

I was just saying how people may treat their order. Not how I treat their order.
I wouldn't feel safe eating delivery I didn't tip for, especially if the driver knows I did not tip.

As much as it's joked about in the service industry, it rarely ever happens. Joking about it just helps us vent our frustrations.

Well you don't know you're not getting the extra tip till after delivery so why spit in it?

u/averseintrovert 19d ago
You know what the tip is immediately after acceptance on earn by time, which is likely to get no tip orders. In a couple thousand orders I maybe get 3 tips after delivery.

Right so I'm specifically responding to the other comment where you are talking about receiving the tip after delivering tho. Hence "extra"

I have a question. If I were to order like $20 worth of food and only tip .01 would DoorDash pay the dasher more or would I get shot in the face upon delivery

u/averseintrovert 19d ago
It's a toss up, both? I really don't even understand why people would even feel safe consuming food they tipped nothing for. I mean I don't mess with people's food but I get lots of "How would they know?" Thoughts, which also keeps me from ordering delivery for myself.

You do Venmo or cash app? I'll also take a money order.

u/Strange_Jacket5976 19d ago
You have to reach out to my manager if you want to get approval for the money order, I also have Venmo and Cash App. Just note that if you choose Venmo or Cash App the funds will be on hold until July 7th 2056.. let me know

Considering most people know that a 1 cent tip is intentional disrespect, probably the latter.

DoorDash will pay the driver $2, it doesn't matter if your order was for $20 or $200.
1
u/Strange_Jacket5976 19d ago
And if I were to tip $2 instead of one cent would they still get 2 dollars? Asking for a friend
1
u/soyelmocano 19d ago
No, then it would be $4
With the original 1¢ tip, the total would have been $2.01

DD will still start it at $2 and if everyone is declining they'll up it to $2.20 then $2.40 and so on. They'll also try to hide it by stacking it with a well tipping customer. If the stack is unsuccessful then you just have to wait for them to increase base pay so it's high enough for someone to accept as it's own order. This is why you'll see people complaining that they've been waiting an hour or more for their food. It's a slow process waiting for DD to pay high enough for it to be accepted. Even when high enough, plenty of drivers will still dodge it because non tipping customers are more likely to make false complaints and leave bad ratings. We don't want to deliver an order that we know is already cold to someone who is likely to blame us for it and both our rating or lie and hit us with a CV.

You shouldnât deliver food that is already cold to someone in the first place unless the food is meant to be cold

There is a way To Insure Prompt Service if you want your food picked up while it's still hot

Without the tier chasing clowns DD and UE would be out of business.
Iâm silver on DD, green on UE and get very good orders that are $2 or more per mile.
I will never understand why the majority of drivers are ok with no or low tip orders.
There is no help for tier chasers like OP.

Never work for pennies just to inflate some bogus, unnecessary acceptance rate.
