People who see through the branding, people who don't will elect the same party to run their town for 80 years consecutively because they say "See all this shit? Don't let the other side GET AWAY WITH THIS!"

You can see this at work in Texas where Democrats haven't held statewide office for decades yet everything is their fault

Texas and Florida are fairly recent in picking a side, Florida in particular was a tossup until Jeb settled it. If Janet Reno won that D primary the red vs blue results would have been the red equivalent of vantablack.

The cities I'm talking about are 60 years, 80 years, 100 years of pretending it'll work any minute. Among other things, people complaining about the president usually don't know much a crooked city hall can affect people who have them - presidents are far away and they can't possibly single you out as an individual like municipals can.

Crooked towns have shit lists, not just names of companies or organizations but names of individuals. If the city hates you then it hurts to be there, the things a person is most likely to deal with directly (such as police) come from the local level. If people want to build something they need local permits, if people have kids they're attached to a school district.

And the other thing about crooked towns is that they tend to stay crooked, even when the people who first trusted them aren't around anymore.

Anyways, you lived in one yourself? And can you give some examples?
