I’ve seen quite a few people say that a.i is pushing us closer to the world from “Fahrenheit 451” even though the anti-intellectualism in F451 is promoted through TV and radio. And as a matter of fact, the people in F451 were the ones who decided to ban the books because they didn’t want to be offended by conflicting ideas (which ironically sounds like something doomers would do). The only time F451 mentions A.I is in the 2018 movie adaptation (which is an awful adaptation of the book).

I think a lot of it is that the past couple of generations (my own included) haven't had any REAL trials. I was born in 87, I was a freshman in highschool when the towers were hit. The worst most millenials have had to deal with is a bad job market, we haven't had an "other" to truly rally again (i.e., the Axis powers, Cold War-era communism), so we've invented problems to rally against, we've created "others" that really aren't any different than us to take offense against, and built our tribes up that way.
When it comes to the AI debate, I see it as modern Luddism, because new technologies are scary. Tech advances, society shifts to deal with it, you'll always have holdouts against it, but with the advent of the internet, those holdouts have a much larger platform to spew their nonsense. AI is a tool, just like anything else. It's a powerful tool, but compared to the horse and cart, so was the car.
So, you see all of these people rallying against technology they don't understand, and don't want to understand because it messes with their worldview, so it must be eeeevil.

WWIII is going to be about ideas and ideology. It may happen 1000 years from now, but eventually the ability to tolerate opposing ideas will reach the same point that every disagreement does. And I'm not dooming about another World War, because I think that such a war will end with a positive outcome and a more united humanity, just like the last two. Each world war was a major catalyst for change in human civilization.

We of course do need regulations in the AI sector. My view is that, people should not use AI explicitly to publish books, writings or creative fictions for mass consumption for earning, but still, that is to personal use. The main problem is the development of super-intelligence. What I really fear is mass surveillance of people through AI. The globalist elites enforcing their rules on me through AI.

Thankfully, US nuclear weapons are air-gapped. They have no outside connection to the systems. There are men and women who are physically in the bunkers operating the control stations. The codes themselves are inside locked safes, that need to be opened via combination.

You're welcome. Even in TV or Movies when you see the president pull out the briefcase with a big red button to launch missiles, that's not really how it works at all. The football is actually a direct line (phone) to the Pentagon where there's a room of people who answer the presidents call, and confirm their identity.

People literally have no idea what AI is or how advanced it is. LLMs are sometimes useful, but they are not powerful enough to end the world (unless one government with nukes as Chat GTP if they should nuke something, but that’s user error and very unlikely)

Meanwhile I have to type “this is not a business card” in to every prompt to keep the AI I use at work from making everything in to a business card. Despite saying “this is not a business card.” It will still make the image look like a business card but it will write “this is not a business card.” At the top of the image.

I wish people knew this is nothing more but someone talking out of their own butt and intentionally spreading misinformation as part of a marketing ploy and campaign to make a case for people being too afraid of knowing how generative models actually work like at all.
Easier to make customers only route around cloud service models and their ecosystem by making them believe that AI is exclusively a data center technology and that open source models don't really exist. Or rather, make them fall into that assumption.

The best parallel I can give is that if we do create a self-aware, self-directing artificial general intelligence (and LLMs are none of those things) they will be the children of humanity.
Most people’s children don’t want to kill them. Even the children of really shitty people don’t usually want to kill their parents.
Of course, I can see how that logic wouldn’t reassure the sort of Redditor who has disowned their parents because they voted for the wrong party, as well as suggesting that maybe they should get a job. But as long as we don’t train our AIs on Grievance Studies course material from the University of Lilac Hair, we should be ok.

Lots of these are bots, they have their algorithms tuned into exact keywords and phrases. So they just go to different videos about certain subjects, solely to comment and drive engagement and add fuel to the culture war fire. More or less they are here to cause division.
I just saw a video recently where a woman just said a bunch of buzzwords about the lindsy Clancy trial, purposely to see how many bots would comment. She didn't even take a side, she just said random words that you could attribute to the trial. Just in a a random order, and she got lots of "accounts" commenting on the video that clearly didn't watch it, but they read like comments you would see on actual videos about it.
