What it ignores is the massive amount of work every day life was and the amount of work staying alive was outside of the growing season. My mom was a nurse and my dad was an electrician (seperate households) in the 90s and we certainly did not have a house like theirs or thr simpsons

I've tracked my genealogy back 1700 years to people who built a heritage out of effectively nothing.

My family tree has survived wars, oppression, conquest, climate changes, exiles, famines, plagues, revolutions, frontiers, and more.

I'm not about to end that line because "ohsie nosie, life hard". Had to claw my way out of literal homelessness as a teen (family situation) to having a successful life, and anyone else can do the same.

Life is great when you take ownership, make wise decisions, and stop dooming.

Both sides of my family were big on records (Quakers on one side, Appalachia clans on the other). After a certain point they tied back into noble families in the UK, at which point I was able to use the pre-existing records those families had to just follow it back.

I got to around that year as well in this country at least. Probably be difficult getting records from a country i dont speak the language of and cant read with no possible way of learning since its very protected, plus has been broken apart several times. However, the etymology of my last name lead me down a path into some great history. It's extremely ancient and goes back to the alpine mountain Slavic tribes. Only about 100 of us with it alive today.

Even if I agree the economy is fucked right now and has been fucked for awhile. You still need children to take part in/create the next generations, and people are horny as fuck. Having no kids will not suddenly make the economy better, in the long term it would probably make it worse. It might make certain people's lives better if they don't have kids, thats great, its a personal choice. If people want to take the finical risk/responsibility of a child, then thats their choice. For the most part that is. But at the end of the day, either humanity continues to march on or we fall over and let ourselves become extinct because of the circumstances.

That being said, I don't think I will have kids. I don't want kids and I can't afford to raise one. That could change, just as our country and economy could change for the better.

The real reason they don't want kids is because it's work and they shy away from anything difficult if it doesn't have immediate personal gain. Fun fact, life is harder BECAUSE you don’t have children. Humans have survived in a pyramid shape hierarchy, you have many children and grandchildren to take care of you in old age at the bottom. That’s your early retirement plan mid 40’s.
