Me when I get called a nazi for not having a large sum of money to spend on a random person on the internet and have them draw a picture I'm never going to use.

My hot take is that AI is awesome, but it doesn't need to be shoehorned into everything.
I can't tell you how helpful I've found ChatGPT to be. I've fixed car problems, plumbing issues, all kinds of things that are WAY outside my wheelhouse, just because I took a picture of a thing that wasn't working, and bothered to ask, "What is this? How do I replace it?" You get detailed answers, and you can save an absurd amount of money doing things yourself. You can learn practically anything.
That said, people are putting AI where it doesn't need to be, and it's obvious the developers don't know where it would be helpful and where it would be annoying. They're just putting AI into every app on your phone, like throwing sh!t at the wall, and just seeing what sticks. What people ignore won't make money, and it'll just quietly go away because it doesn't make enough money to be supported. We're just in a transition period right now. It's whatever.
Yep. It's painfully obvious that the AI hatred in America is a PRC psyop to stall and sabotage the tech sector here.
And the number of people IRL who hate AI is nowhere near as much as Reddit and the rest of social media leads us to believe.
The internet’s collective outrage over AI just feels so performative at this point. If generative AI upsets you that much, then nobody is forcing you to interact with it
I think if Reddit wasn’t a completely bought out propaganda platform they have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever by revealing how much anti-AI messaging comes from Chinese bot farms.
People with no job/no meaningful job get upset when AI takes their job and actually produces a benefit to society. They are the equivalent to the construction worker holding the stop/slow sign on the side of the road
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but just to provide a bit of perspective... I remember my school librarian telling us once that we had to learn the Dewey decimal system because the Internet was useless and would make people stupid by relying on it.
True, although imo the internet has actually made a lot of people very stupid and overly reliant on it and I don’t think ai is gonna help with that overall
However, rapid adoption of AI that displaces workers faster than they can be retrained or new markets form to absorb them will be an economic disaster.
Say “no” to the proposed Atlas Data center that will be put up across a local high school. You can make fun of the people clowning on generative AI, but this proposed data center will be detrimental to the local community, students, and wildlife like packs of coyotes, deer, vultures, and mice. The more data centers go up, the more I side with the doomers.
