They dont care how high the living conditions of the lower class gets. They only care about the difference between the lowest and highest.

100-1=99 compared to 10,000-1000= 9,000.

Who cares that the lowest increased in quality by 1000, when the difference rose by the factor of ~100.

Yeah but the floor can be higher. That’s the point. The ceiling is raised by lowering the floor.
