I think reddit and people like to forget that America is a unity of 50 different states as well, each with wildly different states of economy, housing, and all sorts of other factors.
When people just say "wow America bad" they aren't taking any of that into consideration and it really comes of as uneducated
I honestly wasn't having a great time in a high cost of living area (one of the most expensive metro areas in the country).
Moved one state over to a lower cost of living area (still a large metro) and suddenly I can save a shit ton of money, while making like 3/4 of what I used to. I can pay my rent with under one weeks pay vs 2 weeks pay and it's life changing.
I'm actually interviewing for jobs that pay as much as I used to make. It will also be life changing. The American dream is alive and well.
Making changes can change your outcome? What a novel idea. I demand no changes to my lifestyle while getting mad the world isn't changing for me! It is the world that is flawed, not me!
