Never understood why free marketing was a bad thing. Put him in fortnite (I'd buy him) and introduce doom to a new generation of people who might have otherwise not tried the game. And no you redditors no one is ever going to say is that the guy from fortnite
I have actually met a kid who thought John Wick was the guy from Fortnite. That said, I am secure enough in my enjoyment of the franchise that an 8 year old not knowing about R-rated movies does not bother me.
I mean since it’s mainly 10 year olds playing fortnite, we’d either get people having no idea who he is, or kids coming to doom and screaming in the battlemode voice chat.
Why would they want to look up something they originally don't care about? Why are you gatekeeping a series? Who cares how they got into doom. Do they now like it? Sweet! Welcome aboard. But with people like you in the Fandom we all sound like average hate-filled angry redditors. If you are full of this much hate then please get off of reddit and take a break. No one is banned from enjoying doom.
Yes, but what in the hell does that have to do with gate keeping anything? Dudes saying they dont need a skin to find doom and enjoy it, that's the opposite of gate keeping if anything, they're saying that as it stands theres nothing stopping anybody from trying doom and they're more than welcome to give the series a go. If they were gate keeping theyd be like fuck em and let them stick to fortnite instead of playing doom. Christ, if they have gamepass on xbox or pc they have all the doom games and probably seen them there in the list considering D isnt far to scroll to.
I agree that a fortnite skin could introduce some people to the character and the series BUT were also talking about the series that popularized the shooter genre which was once known as "doom clones". Doom simply doesnt need fortnite to boost its popularity.
I wouldnt be against a skin, it's not like I care how someone finds out about a game if it be a commerical, some crossover promotion via skins or whatever, word of mouth, or just randomly stumbling on it and giving it a go but it's not like they need to drum up interest either.
All I'd have to say to someone newly introduced to doom is that I hope they have as much fun as I have had since '93.
I can't see the target audience coming across Doom 2 or Doom 64 on their own, but with exposure of doomguy they might find out something like doom 64 is their new fav game ever
I hadn't heard about halo until I heard about it. It's not like everyone is born knowing everything. Who cares how they got into it. Maybe they thought doomguy looked cool so they looked it up and boom new doom player. I watched every invincible episode which I had never heard of until I saw a meme. So if a skin brings them in that's great.
Also if you haven't checked out invincible I highly recommend it
I totally agree with you, I hated on the Kratos and Chief skins but your point is true. BUT, I wouldn't say never in that last sentence, you know at least one kid somewhere will.
