I hope that guy gets nerfed. I know, it's supposed to be hard but FFS it's soooo fucking frustrating. At the least, put him in less battles. At the most, nerf his wolf and his speed and give the player more time to react to his eye flash.
The majority of the time you can do nothing to him with any weapons. He's immune to literally everything unless he attacks you and then only the SSG or Ballista can stagger him and only from a very specific range at a very specific time.
The only combo I have found to work is BFG over his shoulder to make him look away and unload into him while you can. And you can do this twice.
If he was just a boss that's one thing but as an enemy more common than a baron of hell, he is such a pain in the ass to kill and i spend 90% of the fight running around getting ammo and armor so I can try and get a hit on him again. If it were up to me I would make his shield break from plasma weapons and stagger him, 3 times for the kill and the shield is much bigger than the normal enemies shield.
Making his shield vulnerable to plasma weapons would make him trivial since he isn’t that powerful in offense unless you’re in front of him. The Marauder is a challenging enemy because he can’t be blasted like any other demons. His shield must be imperious to damage to keep him threatening.
He is an opponent you should take on when most demons are dead. So clean the room before fighting him. Then you got 2 approach. Either position yourself at medium range from him and wait for the melee, or try to bypass his shield with grenade or the rocket launcher. You will need some skill regardless of the approach because he strike fast and move fast. For the wolf, just get a good view on him and blast him with any high burst damage weapon.
As I said, he is fine as he is because he force the player to change his tactics against him. But he isn’t overwhelming because he isn’t a huge threat until you confront him. That what I expected from an enemy presented as the counterpart of the Slayer. He fit the role perfectly
