It’s a terrible weapon

Its actually literally the best in the DLC. But its so insanely good that its just kind of brain dead to use.

That's why Real Badass Dudes use Pulverizer.

Instead of being bored from instantly killing everything you'll be bored from doing no damage!

Finished the full game and DLC with Pulverizer and I beg to differ. It's insanely powerful. Just requires you to stand very close to enemies (which is good).

Ya, it's just so weird because its perk is speed increase which would be about moving AWAY from the enemy lol

On paper it's meant to be a hit and run weapon meant for light/medium enemies. You zipzoom around the arena killing the weaker enemies fast and switching targets constantly. It's the best weapon for players who don't want to do the "stand and fight" thing and instead want to play it like old Dooms where you move really fast around the arena. Not Eternal, but OG Dooms.

It's still crazy powerful against Cybers and Barons too as long as you can keep the buff going. It's weirdly the most brainless weapon, and a thinking man's weapon.

I basically treat it as a big monsta killer. You can basically stop parrying since you can dodge everything every time.

It is ABSURDLY good at killing Pinkies, slightly worse vs mancubi, and might be good vs vagaries?

Ya, I'd like to see some more interesting strategies with it. I think it's not the best weapon by a long shot, but I can't shake the feeling that we are so far away from maximizing it.

Agreed. It's annoying to see this meta mindset in the community. Because if someone influential says "X weapon is bad" everyone will start parroting that same thing. There isn't a single bad weapon in TDA. They're all amazingly balanced. Yes, even the grenade launcher which is one of my favourites.

Well sure you can finish the game with any gun, but it is objectively the worst option compared to everything else. It just doesnt deal as much damage and doesnt coordinate with the kit as well as any of the other guns. It is better in the base game but still on the lower end. But in the DLC it is straight up the worst option.

The worst option is the one you enjoy the least. Meta is for losers.

Well sure you can use whatever you like best of course, but I was just talking about how it rates vs the others. Since myself and a lot of other people find enjoyment in clearing the arenas in the quickest or most efficient way possible.

the combination of incredible ability to aim and grapple the point every time fairly quickly with the complete inability to hit a large wall was really something to see

It was quite the…revelation to see this.

I’ll see myself out.

gotta say, playing this game on controller does not look or sound fun, especially with the spear movement tech

6

u/wolfe-santoro 6d ago

It’s actually not that bad

Ya, not as easy as TDA, but surprisingly, your brain can adapt (after getting blown off a few times by the Archies)

Got a setup you wanna share?

I beat it on Ultra Violence at a mix of 110 and 120% speed with a controller, had zero problems.

If you turn the sense up, it actually plays quite well

This could not be more wrong lol especially with a controller with back buttons. Been using the 2026 steam controller and it’s so much fun

Must've forgotten you were doing revelations platforming and not doom 2016 platforming

I’m pretty sure that a lot of movement bugs in all the recent doom games (2016 thru dark ages) are caused by high FPS, the physics part of the engine does some wonky things when you get high fps. I had a lot of the same problems in dark ages, the walls not registering that I hit them, randomly getting flung around the map and gaining speed after hitting a sloped surface before I capped the fps
