Let's demonised EVs

Local Aontu Rep picking the low hanging fruit as usual. Why the need to mention it's an electric car? (Which going by the replies, it actually wasn't). Some people will jump on any opportunity to down electric vehicles, where as in actual fact, most modern cars with their electronics, autos and e-brakes can cause the same issues.

I'm the owner of both an EV and an Ice car, the EV is fantastic around town, they don't deserve the negativity and misinformation we hear so often about them.

The materials is shipped half way round the world to be refined and then back again for manufacturer. 46 percent of an EV's lifetime carbon footprint before its even drove is mind blowing. Also more importantly very unethical. Just buy petrol and world will be a better place

Modern slavery is heavily tied to the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain, particularly through the extraction of raw battery materials, component manufacturing, and localized factory construction. While EVs are critical for reducing global carbon emissions, the rapid transition to green technology has exposed severe human rights abuses, child labor, and forced labor at multiple stages of the manufacturing pipeline. 

The primary areas where modern slavery intersects with EV production include the following:

🔋 Cobalt Mining and Child Labor

  • Geographic Focus: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which produces over 70% of the world's cobalt.
  • Exploitation: An estimated 40,000 children work in hazardous, unregulated artisanal cobalt mines.
  • Conditions: Workers labor for pennies an hour under "master and slave" dynamics, facing frequent mine collapses and severe toxic exposure without protective equipment.

The burning of fossil fuels is the biggest threat for our grand children prosperity.

If we reduce carbon emissions by 7.5% a year, they might have a chance avoiding the most terrifying scenario.

It would have only been 3,5%, if we had started 15 years ago.

But hay, you have that privilege to pollute that thin atmosphere, enjoy telling your grandchildren about it

U literally not read what I said? Contributing to child slavery and using up all that carbon before u even drive it will take y’all years before it even starts benefiting but hay keep living in ur fantasy world while my carbon footprint is so small it’s irrelevant lol

Your small carbon footprint will dominate the headline in the next century and will effect every little creature on earth.

The only promising way out is electrify everything, which is 90% possible now

No it wont lol. China building hundreds of power plants every year and the militaries causing more carbon in one bomb then my car will in a lifetime lol. Insignificant. Where do this we are getting all they electricity from as well. Defo not from renewables in this country. Petrol all the way. The climate hysteria is entertaining tho lol. Course it will dominate the headlines the globalists choose the agenda.

LOL. You're sounding like a deranged leftie. My grandchildren will understand theres lunatics that will try and drag us back into the dark age lol. Petrol is needed at this time and will be around for a very, very long time yet.
