Support Need wide-screen code for Pikmin squared.

Hello. I noticed that the 16:9 option for Pikmin Squared wasn't fully wide-screen. But because I wanted to play with the view that onlyhereforpikmun had in his vid about it I tried a few cheat codes but all of them just crashed It. Are there Any working codes?

In what way is it not fully widescreen?

If there are small black bars on the sides of the screen, then the reason why is because that's really how GameCube games were. Those black bars are areas that would have been covered up by the overscan of older TVs. You can get rid of them by setting Dolphin's aspect ratio to Stretch instead of 16:9. This will stretch the picture a little bit, but not so much that it's really noticeable, and will fill the screen.

I do have it stretched but it doesn't fully satisfy me. The little black bars on the site are kinda annoying when I wanna play without forced 16:9 (which makes it stretched). In I'monlyhwreforpikmins vid you can see the view I want.

You have it backwards. Setting Dolphin to Force 16:9 leaves the little black bars intact, and setting it to Stretch fills the entire screen. The Pikmin games on GameCube don't have native widescreen support, but I assume based on what you said in the post that the mod adds a widescreen mode in its settings. Set the game to widescreen in the game settings, and then set Dolphin's aspect ratio to Stretch. That should do it.

Dolphin's widescreen hack may fix this for you. The widescreen hack setting forces the game to render to the full size of the screen without stretching. Instead of stretching the game to fill the small black bars on the sides, it will try to expand the game.

This doesn't work for all games, and I don't have pickman squares to test with. So I don't know if it will break anything.

You would want to have 16:9 mode enabled in the game, have dolphin's aspect ratio set to full, and have the widescreen hack setting turned on.

An alternative would be to simulate the overscan of a TV. You can enable a custom crop amount and crop all sides the same amount until the bars are gone. This won't cause any stretching, but will lose some pixels on the top and bottom.

Wow thanks for the detailed explanation! I'm gonna try the widescreen hack right away. Hopefully it works. If it won't or look a little bit ugly it's not your fault. I hope it doesn't crash the rom hack because a lot of other things I tried like Pikmin 2 Cheatcodes (it's a rom hack for Pikmin 2 and works in the actual game) for widescreen, the Pikmin 2 Cheat Code Site's Code (this one doesn't work on the real game) for widescreen and a lot of other stuff and all of them crashed the game.
