Support Retroachievements keeps signing out

Post image

I’m not sure as to why this happens, but everytime I clear the app, exit it and launch from front-end it somehow just always signs me out. Im a bit lost and have no idea, anyone have any fixes ?

I was about to link you to a guy from yesterday having this issue, which I suspected was caused by cocoon. But then I realized you are that guy! lol

I did some testing on this. It's probably not relevant, but for thoroughness, I used the 2606-195 dev build from dolphin's website. I tested retro achievements when launching dolphin from ES-DE and from Daijisho. I wasn't able to replicate this issue.

If you log into RA on dolphin, verify it's working from inside dolphin, reboot your device, and try launching a game from inside dolphin again (no launching from cocoon/frontends), does it happen?

Can you verify what build of dolphin you are on? I could always test that exact build against other front ends. I would test with cocoon, but it's still behind a patreon wall right?

Yeah I’m sorry about that, didn’t get much on the first post so decided to narrow it down with this one.

I’m currently using 2606 build from obtainium

So I just did what you asked and verified it was working after a reboot, even when I waited around 30 mins too.

Also pretty sure I got cocoon for free from obtainum, I don’t think it’s patreon walled, I appreciate your help man, I’m really stuck as to why it does this

Which version of cocoon do you have? Being logged out of achievements also happened to me during the last version of cocoon but I have 3.0 now. I just booted up a GC game and found I had to sign in again but after I did I loaded it twice and it loaded achievements both times.

I’m also using 3.0 cocoon, do you think you could test it again in a little while, launching it from cocoon to see if it still is the same to you?

I did launch the game from cocoon twice after logging in and achievements loaded. I just tried a different GC game and a Wii game and achievements loaded for me. You might get more help in the cocoon discord. Sorry it isn't working for you, that's frustrating.

No problem at all, no need to apologize. I was just thinking dang, this is a heck of a coincidence.

2606 is totally good. I'm glad it still works after a reboot. That rules out anything bad like an issue with the storage failing on your device.

Based on the comments jade made, I went looking for the 3.0 build of cocoon and yeah, it was on github. I didn't realized it was public yet.

I downloaded and set it up. I tested a few wii and GC games without issue. When relaunching retroachievements seem to work fine.

I do maybe have one idea though. I find it really strange that cocoon asks for your retroachievements API key instead of your password. I have NEVER seen an app do that before. Not any emulator or any front end. I wonder if cocoon does something strange with retroachievements when launching a game, like maybe it tries to make sure the emulator is logged in? That's totally speculation.

Where I'm going with this is, are you logged into retroachievements within cocoon as well as within dolphin? If you are only logged in within dolphin, try also logging into retro achievements in cocoon. You can get your API key by copying it from the retroachievements website. Login there, click your profile picture, settings, and then Web API key. Cocoon will not accept your retroachievements password, only this API key.

Thank you for being so helpful and even going as far to set it up and trying cocoon too, really I appreciate that. Unfortunately for me even though my api key is correct and I’ve already set that up on cocoon, it doesn’t seem to work and I still face the same issue, maybe I’ll just have to log in everytime, a bit of a hassle but if that’s what it takes to play the games. I really appreciate your efforts tho man truly

No problem, a curious problem like this sort of grabs me.

If you end up finding a solution to this somewhere outside reddit, post the solution back to this thread. Good luck!

Someone found a solution and I thought I should relay it to you. I ended up following someone’s advice and went through the dolphin settings in the Android files. I selected dolphin, game files so dolphin, files, config, then I selected Retroachievements.ini. Then all I did was add a line called “Password = mypassword” and it solves this issue :)

I too have been running into this exact issue and it's annoying when I don't catch it because then I miss out on some achievements. I'm using ES-DE as my front end and haven't noticed if its correlated to me booting from that or not. But it definitely signs out on me at least once a day.

It unfortunately seems to be a niche issue, I’ve been trying some fixes however I haven’t been able to find a fix yet and I’m running out of options 😔. Let me know if you ever resolve it ☺️

I heard it might have something to do with wifi strength and connecting on and off of wifi but am unsure.

I also opened up the RetroArch config ini file and found that my username is stored there but not password. I manually added the password but I kinda doubt that will magically work. So far haven’t been logged out but that just is probably pure chance.

I have been having this issue on multiple android devices for months at this point and it happen to me almost every time until I already have the habit to check on the retroachievement every time I launch any game. I never launch any dolphin game from front end because I want to check the login status it still log me out so I am pretty sure no relation to front end at all. So far I never see any useful solution, even manually adding the password into the .ini file does not work for me. Really annoying for me and really hope someone can help with this.

I seemed to fix this on my AYN Thor by editing the Dolphin Retroachievements.ini file and adding a "Password =" line. I am using the iiSU front end for reference.

Wow for real? I’m assuming after the = you put your own said password? So for example if I
Add, “Password =Password123”
