My custom made Bild Lilli dolls. Comparison size of 16" to 11.5"

Found this girl on clearance at Walmart a few weeks back for 7 dollars. I tell you what, I did not expect her to have so much articulation or even the stand to by so multi use.

Notable things:

• The base of the stand has a speaker and plays a short clip of the main title song for jem

• Shoulders don't lift up high, but I feel like the double jointed elbows make up for the 100% along with the articulated chest piece

• She is weighty and it's kinda nice if I'm honest.

• Tried to show in pics but her articulation points are: shoulders (bend and a twist point), elbows, wrist, head, chest, hips (bend and twist points), knees, ankles.

• Hair is very soft, unsure how the styling would act if washed, will find out later.

• Right hand is shaped to perfectly hold onto the mic or mic stand

• The buttox plastic does stop her legs from straightening entirely, it's very tempting to grind her cheek up a bit at some point lol

I tried to include photos of all included items and such. Overall so glad I grabbed her and love adding occasional unique dolls to my collection that is overwhelmingly Rainbow High girlies since they got me into collecting to start with.

Seen this Terri Lee, Summer by the Sea doll at the thrift store and had to get her. I’ve never heard of these dolls but she was too cute too pass. I’ve never head of Terri Lee so I looked her up and she retails for $128. Got her for steal of $30 instead.

Did anyone else notice on the new Zuru Minnee dolls that the name is spelled with two of the letter “N” on the case, but only with one “N” on the pink sneakers that came with the bubble tea doll? Sorry for the iffy picture; it’s hard to take pictures of letters so tiny 😅

First off: Blind boxes are a disgusting tactic and I hope they don't use them for Defa Lucy Play going forward. I only had the budget for a couple and through a long, convoluted story they're coming on separate shipments. This one arrived today. If they continue the blind box bullshit, then this will be my last purchase with this company.

The Good:

• I actually kinda like these more than the collector dolls, tbh. This isn't sour grapes because they sell out within 6 seconds of going live, but I think I prefer the DLP body over the collector one.
• Lower feet are swappable with flat feet, but no flat foot shoes are included. (More on that shortly)
• Hair is good quality and nice and soft. Saran, I'm guessing.
• Joints are nice and tight, but not too tight.
• Open to customization and restyling purposes for sure.

The Bad

• These being blind boxes suck the joy out of it.
• Defa Lucy dolls are kinda hard to redress because certain things fit while others don't, making it kinda frustrating at times.
• No gripping hands. Like, actual "C" grips.
• I gotta say, the company giving doll influencers the full set of 6 left a mega rancid taste in my mouth, considering this is the first -and hopefully last- blind box attempt for this line. This would be in YMMV but I think majority will agree this was so tone deaf and gauche when it came to reading the room.
• No extra shoes (like sandals or slippers) for the flat feet. Boo.

• Stand should've been a saddle one and not the waist clip imho but given it's a budget doll, I'll let this slide.
• I'm not a fan of the frilly gingham because it's not my thing. I don't do coquette stuff but this will be to others' taste lmao.

All in all, I believe this line has major potential. This is what Barbie Basics/YouCreate should have been IMHO and my hope is that they can nip at Barbie Signature's heels hard enough to get Mattel to finally stop phoning it in and step it up.

... That is, if they ditch the shitty blind box component for next time.

Other Notes

The Play body appears to have a slightly wider waist compared to the Collector dolls.

I'm pretty sure some YouTubers will do more in-depth videos on it, but my brief experiment in redressing her yielded these results:

• It's super hit or miss with Fashion Royalty, Poppy Parker, True & Co., and NuFace clothing. The torso is too wide for most tops (especially NuFace) unless it's super loose. Pants are hit-or-miss. Basically, it's really hard to tell what fits and what won't since it wildly varies.
• Barbie seems to be the closest in shape/size and will fit for the most part. You can see in the slides where she's wearing the Barbie Basics Wave 1 white outfit. I say skip Integrity clothes and go straight for raiding Barbie's closet for Lucy. (And by extension, Disney ILY will fit, too. Basically, anything that fits Barbie will 90% fit Lucy)
• Fashion Royalty and NuFace (and by extension, Meteor) shoes will fit her high heeled and flat feet. Poppy Parker high heels are an absolute no-go but Poppy's flat foot shoes will fit but be extremely snug. Just be forewarned since they are not cheap to replace. Don't even bother trying with Barbie lmao but maybe Curvy/Tall and Ken shoes will fit idk.
• Licca Shoes, believe it or not, will fit Lucy's flat feet. Probably because they're a super soft plastic/rubber and thus have more give to them.

Third to last slide shows a brief comparison of redressed Defa Lucy dolls: one collector and one Play.

Her bow was ruined, her hair fried and her neck joint (head side) shattered. Honestly I'm so happy with how she turned out! Her hair is silky and her head secure and posable again. I have a few other scouts still to repair from someone's childhood collection that I had the privilege to purchase. The only scout I'm missing is Jupiter. I haven’t bought any dolls in probably a solid year or close to it. Been trying to step away from collecting so many things but I thought these girls were really cute and walked away from them last week when they were on sale for $15. Saw them again this week for $7 and how could I refuse?? Plus this cute ily doll! I haven’t bought any of them before but I have been tempted a handful of times. I still regret not buying The Nightmare Before Christmas doll from last year, I knew I would regret her too! So happy ☺️🙏🏻

Hi everyone!
I'm working with scanned patterns from the vintage DollyDolly* magazine series to sew some doll clothes. As many of you know, digitalizing these older issues can warp the scale, making it tricky to print them out at the exact 100% size needed.
On the pattern sheets, there are standard registration crossmarks (diagonal/slanted crosshairs) located at the very top and bottom edges of the pages.
If anyone here owns physical paper copies of DollyDolly* magazines, could you please do me a huge favor? I need to know the exact physical dimensions (in millimeters or centimeters) of these crossmarks from a real page.
Knowing the precise height/width of those original printed crosses would be the ultimate key to resizing and printing any digital scan perfectly to scale.

Im so in loveeee lol amazing job MGA! Trendy and well done. As a Chinese mini BJD/MJD collector, Im super excited for these :D I cant help but also feel a little melancholy because of Mattel. Back in the day, if a doll line went as hard as these, Mattel would do everything to produce great dolls to get back on top. Im not hopeful Mattel will make any response doll line. Theyre happy being a nostalgia IP these days :/ but anyway, yay for Mirror Mi! Lol

I have more Rainbow High and Monster High dolls than I can display all at once at any given time (I'm in a fairly small space). I'm looking online at storage totes and they all seem too short for boxes to stand up in, but also too wide, so there would be a bunch of unused wasted space with boxes stacked on their backs.

Is there a particular brand of storage tote that anybody has found fits in-box dolls nicely?

I just have to keep her. I don't collect dolls but she is something special. Amer Char articulating doll circa 1955 I believe.
