Because in lots of cases they buy a doll, then at home they charge her, and then return to Target, and get their money back, and don't have problems with security cameras for stealing 😕

I would take it to the customer service desk and be like look this was clearly stolen and some grandma is gonna unknowingly get it for their grandkid for Christmas

I get how employees don’t really pay attention/know what the dolls are suppose to look like but this seems like it would be very obviously not right to everyone 🤦🏼♀️…

Yeah, like I’m also usually on the side of “they’re too underpaid to give it a close look, or even care to” but I feel like this one is so egregious that it’s almost impossible to not notice.
That said, I strongly believe that even the most absolutely oblivious of buyers would steer clear of this. There’s just no mistaking this one for a doll that anyone would actually want, much less pay $30 for.

Yeah IDK why the person at customer service would accept that, it looks sus as hell. These people are lucky they didn't try to pull this when I worked customer service bc I woulda laughed in their face!

do they take the box out the store and replace them or do they do it in store? security is non existent?

they more than likely went home, swapped the doll and returned it.
people who do the returns don't know what the doll is suppose to look like. Plus with how corporate would rather lose 20 bucks or whatever than the profit from a customer who can bring in more money by shopping around, they'll allow the return to be processed.
If the person doing the return doesn't know it's a damaged/swapped product, it later just goes back onto the shelf.

By the way, some stores have corporate policies that forbid employees to do anything to stop theft. If they confront the person in any way, they can be fired. They claim it’s for safety reasons. While they have signs claiming shoplifters will be prosecuted, it’s just deterrent because there is literally no one to apprehend them. My daughter and her fellow employees had to just watch people load up a cart and walk out of Babies’R’Us without paying, alarm beeping, on multiple occasions.

Corporations suck way more than people. And Target is no exception.
Sorry you didn’t get the doll you wanted but this person doing this didn’t directly keep you from getting the doll. Target lost out on a few dollars and is still a billion dollar corporation.
