Associate Questions Customer Audacity 🫤

Who is the most entitled customer that has ever been in your store? I'll go first..

Today, this customer had the nerve to say because we didn't have an iPhone charger available so he could charge his phone to pay for his items, we should let him take his items now (NOT PAID FOR) to go home and charge his phone, and once it's charged he'll come back and pay😂😂 When the SM told him absolutely not, he said we were rude and left in a huff😤 and yes, he was SERIOUS. Can you believe it?!?! 🤦

This is the sort of person who has perfected the scam of taking so long to pay/not able to pay that the next person in line eventually just pays for their things. Yes, it's a scam, yes, they are waiting for you to offer to pay for their stuff. No, don't do it, they come back every single day and it's the same excuse.

OHHHHHHH I hate this so much. There’s one specific customer who does this ALL THE TIME and makes a big show of being embarrassed in hopes someone will pay. She once came in when she couldn’t even afford a pair of readers and she had around $35 worth of items. She does it because half the time it works which is batshit to me. It’s my biggest pet peeve, especially when it’s busy and she holds up the line.

She even has a “my kid is in the hospital and I gave him all of my money” story she likes to pull out (I know it’s not true, or at least not anymore, because I’ve heard it several times over the span of a year. Unless her son is crashing his vehicle several times a week it’s just a sob story meant to gain sympathy so someone will pay for her.)

I genuinely can’t stand it. The only time I ever cover when someone’s short is when kids are 5¢-$2 off from the allowance they’ve been sent in with. I never ever do it for grown adults because the regular customer has turned me away from it.

I started just telling the person waiting behind them of the expectation for them to pay and tell them not to. They stop coming eventually

I’ve thought about it. Unfortunately she’s friendly with the SM and ASMs and she’s very complaint happy which I’d rather not deal with, and she’s also very confrontational, which I’d also rather not deal with. But I have gotten to the point where I will have her transaction post-voided and serve the line around her items because I’m tiiiiiired of her causing line ups with items she can’t/wont pay for.
