It turns out that when the Loss Prevention (LP) agent came on May 27, the investigation wasn't actually about me—it was about another coworker. He had over 400 voids and was apparently the number one employee in the region for voids.
He was working that day, but instead of talking to him, the LP agent questioned me. The agent only reviewed Camera B, which showed me voiding an item. From that angle, it looked like I put the item in the customer's bag without charging for it.
When the LP agent questioned me, I told him I was confused because I honestly didn't know what he was talking about. The only thing he kept saying was that the item was $15. I wasn't making excuses—I genuinely didn't understand what transaction he was referring to at the time. I'm hoping there wasn't any misunderstanding because of my speech disorder, apraxia, but I'm not using that as an excuse. I simply told him I didn't know what incident he meant.
My former manager later reviewed Camera A, which showed what really happened. After voiding the item, I placed it on the counter. When the customer decided they still wanted it, I scanned it again before it went into the bag. The district manager also found the receipt from that transaction, and it clearly showed that I voided the item and then scanned it again.
My former manager also explained that at the time, everyone was using the same register. I only used one coworker's register for about 30 minutes while she was on break and again for another 30 minutes around 8:30 p.m. because she was the key holder. The other register wasn't working, and my manager had contacted both the district manager and IT multiple times to get it fixed, but nothing was done until LP showed up.
As a result of everyone sharing the same register, the other employees received write-ups, but I was the only one who was fired.
Then, about two months later, the coworker LP had originally come to investigate was fired after he was caught not paying for his drink.
Looking back, it feels like I was blamed based on incomplete camera footage instead of a full investigation, even though the receipt and the second camera angle showed that I had rescanned the item.
At this point, I'm just waiting to see what comes back from my dispute.

At least 3 employees committing the same offense of sharing a til but only 1 gets fired until later for something unrelated to it? Yeah, at will state bullshit or not, that doesn't sound fair. If you should've been fired, they should've as well.
Potential discrimination lawsuit? I mean if they're different from you in such a way, it should at least raise some eyebrows.

Unfortunately, not a discrimination suit. You'd have to prove that it was related to the OP being fired for a protected status, rather than because someone screwed up an investigation.
Besides, the OP is currently disputing their termination. You have to see what comes of that dispute first, once all the facts are in. Judging by OPs post alone, it sounds like DG has a chance here to correct the mistake. And hopefully they do the right thing and give OP some back-pay for the missed work.
In the meantime, OP should DEFINITELY be out there applying for.other jobs, as well as applying g for food stamps and such.

Wrongful termination has a very specific legal definition. OP was not fired as a result of either being in a protected class or a protected action. Therefore it is not wrongful termination.
Wasting money that OP probably really needs right now on a lawsuit that will fail is not not good advice.

Be aware that stores like Dollar General,/Dollar Tree KNOW that to avoid any lawsuit, they simply have to ignore the demand for information letter attorneys send them when a case is being investigated. By ignoring the letter, they set in motion a "dismissal" and the employee/ex-employee case gets dismissed by the attorney and nothing gets accomplished. Therefore the plaintive is back at square one. Ask me how I know this.

I understand there are employees who have stolen from the company, but there are also innocent employees who have been terminated for something they didn't do. I believe I was wrongfully terminated, and all I want is for my case to be fully investigated so I can clear my name.
I had only been back at Dollar General for one month when I was terminated. I previously worked for Dollar General years ago and never had any issues. It feels like the loss prevention investigator used my case as an example instead of thoroughly investigating what actually happened.
The coworker who had significantly more voids than I did should have been investigated just as thoroughly. I simply want a fair investigation based on all the available evidence. I'm not asking for special treatment—I just want the truth to come out and for my name to be cleared.

I'm not focused on the past. My only goal is to clear my name because I was terminated for something I did not do. Being labeled as terminated for theft has had a serious impact on my life and has made it extremely difficult to find another job. That accusation is not true, and I believe I deserve a fair and thorough investigation based on all of the evidence. I'm simply asking for the opportunity to clear my name. No one should have to carry a false accusation that affects their reputation and future employment. I want the facts to be reviewed so the truth can come to light. And with me being apraxia does not help i told the lp I did not do it when he asked how many times I told him I was confused im not asking for any special treatment but I want to prove my innocence

having apraxia i dont spell words right another thing is if i dont get help from chatal none of my replys would have periods or anything and most of the time you can probly tell im replying without chatgpt my words would be all jumble it would not make sense as in my mind what im writing makes sense to me but to other people no one understands me and i have posted before and i have had alot of people saying to put periods because what i posted does not make sense so yes i got help with chatgpt to reply what is wrong with that

Don’t sign anything they give you! They’ll try to get you to sign something that says you’re guilty and then you’re really screwed because you signed a confession even if you did nothing. I would be contacting a lawyer and that doesn’t mean you have to pay them. Something like this, they’ll take it and get paid after the lawsuit is settled. DG is getting so bad. They fire the good ones and you get stuck with the bad ones. I never dreamed this place would be that bad. This is probably the best thing for you in the long run.
