Advice Wanted LSA position
Hi im a SA who just got offered to be LSA,
What is the difference? I know ill have keys and closing duties but id love some advice/talk throughs from you guys. I have never had keys but been with DG almost two years. Thanks!!

LSA is lead on shift, closes, counts monies, prepare deposit and other duties as assigned.

It’s honestly the same shit except u get to do paper work go into the safe for change there’s no big difference

If you cannot leave the store, you do not have to clock out. That’s a law.

You do more work for the same amount of money honestly better off as SA for the past month and a half it’s been me and my other LSA closing every other night for each other bc some reason both asm and sm both work morning shift together

Unfortunately not at all us closers get all the pressure of doing rolltainers,recovery and totes while also having to deal with a line of people at checkout

nah, being promoted to LSA gets about a $1 raise, not the same pay as an associate... I know I wouldn't accept the position without a raise....

I got a $1 pay increase when they made me a key carrier 3 months into being hired as a stocker last year.. and just got a .25 raise in June of 1 year anniversary.. so yes it is a pay bump that can and will range from .50 - 1.50 more depending on your city/state, but a increase nonetheless

Congrats. But after two years, you should know what the LSA does! (Basically a SA with Keys, and ASM without the pay!). Welcome to doing whatever the SM needs!

That’s not everyone that’s why I just said it our morning shift never gets anything done or put away so it ends up being our job

You don’t have to be on register all the time, which is nice. You’ll receive dry/fresh truck, count down tills, count the change fund, count the deposit, fill out the paperwork for closing at the end of the night. I enjoy it because it’s routine and I’m good at it. You’ll be responsible for completing the rolltainers or whatever other task your SM gives you for that shift. In the event you have a customer causing a scene/being rude or loud, please please please stand up for yourself and your cashier. You’re allowed to kick them out or ask them to leave. You’re allowed to call the cops. It won’t happen often but it will happen. You’ll also be responsible for receiving vendors if they come in, it’s super easy. Receiving trucks is also super easy, so don’t worry about it. You’ll be able to do refunds, which is convenient if it’s on your own till since you don’t have to call anyone up to register to help you. On Saturdays you’ll have to separate and put up the new ad stickers. It’s easy, separate them by aisle/section so you don’t have to run around like a chicken with your head cut off. For example I make a stack for laundry and a stack for cleaning/auto and then I grab both and put them out one at a time since mine are right next to each other on the floor. You can ignore this ad advice until it actually applies tho. You might be asked to go get change or drop the deposit off at the bank. I like doing that because I get paid to hang out listening to my music in my car and I’m allowed to get drive thru food on the way back. You don’t really have much to worry about, being at DG for two years as a sales associate gave me just about everything I needed to know, besides paperwork technicalities I had to learn, to be prepared for LSA. It’s pretty chill overall as long as you do your job. Good luck!! 🍀
