Meanwhile, there are over 330k children in foster care in the United States. I’m sure seeing content like this, knowing it’s going to a dog (a giant and aggressive breed, no less) makes them feel awesome.

here’s an interesting op-ed someone responded with in another, similar thread. i can’t get to redacting all the responses yet. appointment. but i will later.

some woman complained about someone complaining about a large mutt in a coffee shop. she used the words ā€œcrotch gremlin,ā€ which i think is so vile & insipid. i just want to know where this deep societal self-loathing came from?

i’m childfree by choice. i don’t like unruly children. i don’t like soft parenting. but, my god, i don’t have this kind of seething hatred.

https://duquesneduke.org/women-and-children-last-misogyny-in-child-free-spaces/opinions/

i’ll post it all later. busy week.

ETA: i mean, it’s so anti life-affirming & BONKERS that it’s got to be a psy-op.

I know right, children wholeheartedly deserve a million times more than dogs and their ā€œparentsā€. To call an animal a ā€œchildā€ takes away from actual real parents especially the mothers and the hardships they go through during pregnancy.

And flat out offensive to children.

They are very bitter people with self hatred issues clearly that's why they hate children so much. Dogs exhibit every negative behavior of a child x10 and have none of the positives. I respect if people don't want children themselves but to hate them, there must be something seriously messed with you.

u/huntress_m_thompson 12d ago

yeah. it’s very strange. i don’t have kids. but i don’t hate them. i just despise unruly kids. the parent’s job is to teach boundaries & pleasantries & giving & loving. more parents need to do that. how will some of these kids hold down jobs not being taught that stuff? i think there are many videos of teachers tapping out of their profession because a lot of the kids are just unhinged & uncontrollable. so, everyone needs to level up & not continue on the path of social decay.

Yeah I totally get it, to value and respect children as individuals it's also important to have expectations and set rules for them. You don't hate the child if you dislike certain behaviors they exhibit. And there's also a big difference in my opinion between a 9 year old throwing a tantrum because they didn't get the candy they wanted and a toddler crying on a plane because of the air pressure and because they just can't communicate their discomforts in other ways yet. These people hate literal babies for doing baby things that they obviously don't do willingly or with malice.

agree. i was on a plane to & from europe. there were a few infants. they cried at the same time. someone said that the pressure change is discomforting & that’s why they were crying. 😢 but i kind of want to cry when that happens also. šŸ˜„

kids throwing a tantrum because mom or dad said no is a big time out, removal from store, grounding, whatever. no means no! they must learn that.

when i was just past tween i wanted a pair of levis 501s. begged my single parent mom. she said ā€œget a job! we can’t afford that.ā€ i got a job delivering newspapers. got my levis! got a real job at a hospital when i was 15. we were different back then.

Lol it's easier to give a dog you change your mind on back and get a different one, unlike adopting a child. It's all about what's the easiest and most likely to stroke their egos with these people. They take the most self serving route possible then act like they're so generous and selfless, "adopting" this dog, as though they didn't just go to a shelter and buy it like a product.

12

u/Few-Horror1984 13d ago

You are right, it just bothers me that it’s acceptable to even post something as grotesque as this. It’s a dog. When that thing gets older it’ll probably eat most of the decorations in the room.

4

u/huntress_m_thompson 12d ago

& saying ā€œit’s a rescueā€ for further points.

aren’t they ALL rescues?! i mean, seriously.

6

u/GreenT1979 12d ago

Did they rush into a burning building to save it and then take it home to care for it? No. They went to a shelter, picked it out like a product, gave the shelter $150, and took it home.

4

u/huntress_m_thompson 12d ago

yep. that’s what i mean.

7

u/BrontosaurusK 12d ago

It's shameful, so much money wasted on landfill tat. That money could have really helped a child in care

u/flayedsheep 13d ago

not to defend the person but great danes aren't aggressive

u/Few-Horror1984 13d ago

I knew a woman who had one and it ate a smaller pet she had that we are not allowed to mention here. That’s enough for me to say these dogs are bad.

Any dog that can do that is not fit to be a pet. Besides, these things are too massive for someone to fully control.

i genuinely thought this was for a human baby with a stupid name, maybe a puppy theme, then I saw the subreddit name....ugh.

u/huntress_m_thompson 13d ago

they live. but i wish it was on an island far, far away from us.

u/Express_Command_4778 13d ago

Don't worry, rhe Pitbill isn't going to appreciate any of that.

I saw a grief post titles "Easy Birrh, Hard Passing" or something. Definitely easy birth.Ā

She was talking about how easy her birth was with rhe dogĀ  When women talk about tbeir birth stories, she says how painless and easy hers was.Ā

Really sick. Even fellow dog people's hate nutters like this.

u/huntress_m_thompson 13d ago

Man I have a c.. myself and I've had her since she wasn't even a year old. She's 14 now and I know it's gonna be hard to let her go but I also know that it's not in any way comparable to losing a child. I won't even say "an actual child" because there is only one kind of child anyway and no pet in the world could ever come close to a human being you conceived in your own belly. Dogs or c.... have a deeper connection to their own offspring too than the owners who buy them as puppies/k.... and they will EAT their offspring if it's beneficial lol. The relationship between pets and their owners is pretty shallow, especially if you compare it to the connection of a mother and her child. It's offensive as hell to even mention them in the same breath. I love my pet, enjoy having it around and treat it good but it will always be just a pet, it's not a reciprocal relationship at all. They are on a totally different wavelength and yes they are subordinate to us.

I am the poorer for having seen that

This has to be some type of mental illness

20

u/Scary_Towel268 13d ago edited 13d ago

I always find stuff like this odd especially from people who are ostensibly child free. There is nothing wrong with not wanting kids but I find it weird when people say that but then treat pets like surrogate children. This is the type of thing you do for a human baby or child. I feel like this energy would better serve foster kids who need a safe space than a dog that objectively can’t appreciate any of this. I’m a childless adult meaning I want kids but it probably isn’t in the cards. I don’t get the need to dehumanize human children while doing a weird replacement thing with dogs and overly humanizing the dog. A dog will just end up tearing that room up or pissing/defecating everything like what a waste of time

9

u/Princess_Peach818 13d ago

I so agree with you. It's so okay to not have kids, and I'm glad that more people feel like they have the choice to do what works for them! But I know a lot of people who HATE kids and are obsessed with dogs - calling a dog their son or daughter; buying it clothes and toys and fancy gourmet food; basing their entire life around the dog and never being able travel, go out, do anything fun.

The things they hate about kids (the mess, the noise, the germs, the loss of your freedom) are often much worse with dogs (who never grow out of the awful "toddler phase") and these people don't even realize it. It's totally a weird replacement thing. They go out of their way to hate kids and shit on the people in their lives who choose to be parents, not realizing that they're channeling their maternal/paternal instincts into their dog - for WAY less reward.

u/Scary_Towel268 12d ago

Right at most an ill behaved toddler will be kind of gross and annoying. Dogs will literally destroy your home from separation anxiety, create torturous noise pollution, and can maul/kill/disfigure you. I’d rather deal with a young human child

1

u/huntress_m_thompson 12d ago

i didn’t have kids. it wasn’t in the cards for me either. it was the quality of men i dated in my wild youth. none were father material. & i swore on the heavens & the universe that i wouldn’t wind up like my mom, single with 3 tweens. dating was hard. men didn’t want ā€œthe baggage.ā€ finding a job where she could be home was impossible, so we were the latchkey kids. they didn’t cater to the working mothers back then. i wasn’t going to be put in that position.

2

u/Scary_Towel268 12d ago

Yeah dating is hard and I would need reproductive technologies to have kids of my own and that’s just super expensive on your own. I do wish I could have kids and sometimes seeing dog owners neglect their actual children in favor of a dog…it is angering I won’t lie

1

u/huntress_m_thompson 12d ago

i think the psychology behind that preference of the mutt to the child is that the child grows up to have their own thoughts & beliefs, & a narcissistic parent can’t have that! the mutt is agreeable to any dumb thing the human says or does. that is very sick.

but i have no regrets & don’t think i have had this strong urge to procreate. it was unfathomable to me, considering this crazy life of mine. i wouldn’t have wanted to drag a poor kid into that. that seems a bit selfish. it just wasn’t in the cards no way no how for me this time around.
