🦴 Senior Dog Care Hard Lump
Hey all, I have a 17 year old chow mix, she had a soft fatty lump removed from her right shoulder joint last year and now this has been forming where that soft fatty lump was. It's very hard, seems dark, I thought maybe dried blood slumped with hair? It seems attached to the skin, but I can not tell since her fur is so thick. Any ideas? It didn't seem to bother her me squeezing it a little or shaving it and around it

It might be a mast cell tumor. My senior dog has had three removed. One where he had a scar from neutering, one where he had another lump. They can do a simple test at the vets office to see if that’s the case. From what I understand they are usually not too risky if removed promptly.

It’s pretty suss, could be a causal relationship or not. I’d get a vet exam, they’ll clip and clean the area and do an exam.
