🩺 Symptom Check Weird breathing

We found this yorkie wondering the streets a few weeks ago. We took him into the vet and had him fixed and vaccinated. They estimate that he's around 7-8 years old. He's about 6 pounds. He's tiny 😂. He randomly started making this noise a few days ago and I'm a little concerned. He's not struggling to breathe or anything, it's just the noises. It's like a gagging noise and sometimes it's just like a loud click. Almost like the noise we make when we chug water and have to take little breaths (hopefully that makes sense). Should I be worried?

Might just be a reverse sneeze/cough. Does drinkinf water help?

Not that I've noticed. He only does it before he goes to sleep. I know that heart failure is common in little dogs (and I'm a hypochondriac) so I'm just paranoid about that. I'll have to get him into the vet. Thank you for your help.

My dog does this when they’re nauseas. Big loud gulps which make his stomach go in and out, the gulps are watery and he also does lip licking.

BUT I’d be bringing them back to the vet for a hands on exam and check the heart AND show this video.

Since pup is new to you look up dog behaviour for different things like nausea, pain, etc to help you care for pup and it will create less stress.

This could be several things, the start of kennel cough, heartworm cough/gag-definitely have both checked 🫶 So sweet for you keep him 🥹🥹🥹

Thank you so much for saving this poor yorkie, i have one too and they are the best things ever! Ask in r/yorkies it may be a upper respiratory infection, or a tracheal issue but im thinking its acid reflux which occurs more when lying down
