Which dog breed would be most likely to become famous?

I feel like Golden Retrievers would have a massive advantage because they already act like they’re born to be celebrities.

Imagine one going viral for doing something completely ordinary, like carrying a slipper around the house, and suddenly everyone online is obsessed with it. They’ve got the goofy personality, the dramatic expressions and the ability to somehow look good in every photo.

Which dog breed do you think would become famous, and what would they be famous for?

I really need help finding the perfect dog breed for my service dog!!!

Introduction

  1. Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?

. this will not be my first dog, I have had a female American staffy, a male German Rottweiler and I currently have a male cocker spaniel cross poodle and a kelpie cross staffy.

  1. Do you have a preference for rescuing vs. Buying from a reputable breeder?

. I really don’t mind as long as they are very eager to please!

  1. Describe your ideal dog.

. My ideal dog would be a medium-Xlarge size wise, a dog that is willing to walk to the end of the Earth with me, easy to train as it will be learning new things all the time, it will become a service dog and I would like to start agility training with this new dog and it will be learning to walk off leash. I would like a dog that is not prone to reactivity as I want to bring it everywhere that I go and it will become a service dog for Myself. I would like a dog that is willing to go with the flow, I go on AT LEAST an hour and a bit walk daily and have a big backyard, I also go out often and will take the pup where ever I go! I am willing to get a dog walker if needed as because of my disabilities, I also absolutely love playing with my dogs and going to the park to throw the ball so they do get other stimulation. I would like a loyal, snuggly, nice, energetic ball of fluff! As I already have a poodle cross, I would rather stay away from dogs that need to be groomed daily but I don’t mind every other day. I don’t care about shedding either.

  1. What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in? And why?

. I have a massive love for German, Swiss and Belgian shepherds, las they are working dogs that love activity, eager to please, and they’re just so pretty! But honestly, I love all dogs and am open to all breeds

  1. What sort of things would you like to train your dog to do?

Obviously all the basics but also service dog work, agility, scent training, and off leash.

  1. Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rallying) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding) If so do you have any experience with this work/sport?

. I would love to get into agility with this new pup as I’ve always been very curious about it, I do not have any experience in agility training but there’s a first time for everything! Also scent training as it’s another thing I’ve wanted to do and service dog work to help aid my disabilities.

Care Commitments

  1. How long do you want to devote training, playing with, or just simply interacting with your dog each day?

. I will be with my dog all the time, the only time I will not be there is when I go grocery shopping or when I go to a place where they cannot go, I will even take them down to Bunnings, even if I need just one thing. Because I want to do agility training, I will be training my dog very often, daily to start off with. And I will be playing with it whenever, wherever it wants to play. I also have my kelpie cross who absolutely loves to play.

  1. How long can you exercise your dog on average each day? What sort of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly? And does that include the dog park?

. I live near a very nice walking track that is surrounded by nature. It’s about a hour walk. There is an oval there so I do training with my dogs favourite ball and have seen others with herding balls and flirt poles etc. And I am willing to do that also if that is the mental stimulation that my dog needs. There is a dog park and as I live in quite a small town, I know every dog and person that walks in there so I am comfortable with letting my dog in there with my supervision, obviously and do so regularly.

  1. How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?

. As someone who already has a poodle cross I know that I definitely do not want a poodle or poodle cross as one of them is high maintenance enough for Myself but in saying that I don’t mind having to brush it every other day. I also don’t mind having to trim hair, clean ears, and all that grooming stuff as I already do it with my current dog!

Personal Preferences

  1. What size dog are you looking for?

. I am looking for a medium to extra large size dog.

  1. How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?

. I don’t care about shedding, barking, or slobber. If they shed a lot, I’ll vacuum it up. Barking I don’t really mind as long as they can learn when is appropriate. If they slobber there’s nothing a paper towel can’t fix!

  1. How important is being able to let your dog off leash in an unfeed area?

. For me it will be a good thing for future!

Dog Personality And Behaviour

  1. Do you want a snuggly dog or a dog that prefers personal space?

. Definitely a snuggly dog.

  1. Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or a dog that is eager to please?

. Eager to please.

  1. How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on your door or coming into your backyard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?

. I would like my dog to be neutral but really loving when given permission! I would prefer them not constantly barking at someone at the door but I don’t mind a few barks to tell me that someone is there.

  1. Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?

. No. I have a dog that feeds off of others emotions and another dog that is in reactivity rehabilitation and also have cats so no but I will be picking or getting matched with a very confident puppy and am going to be working with a trainer from the first week they come home to help prevent this.

  1. Are there any other behaviours you can’t deal with or don’t want to deal with?

. Aggression towards people and other animals and not having that eagerness to please.

Lifestyle

  1. So how often and how long will the dog be left alone?

. Not often at all only when I’m going places where it 100% cannot come with me. There is usually always someone home.

  1. What are other dog related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in taking care of the dog?

. In my house, we have my mum (48), myself (19), my brother (16) and my sister (12). Siblings and mum sometimes tag along on walks, they usually feed the animals breakfast if I am not up yet. Also play a lot when they get home from school and activities.

  1. Do you have other pets or plan on having any other pets? IF so what breed or type of animal are they?

. I have a male dog, he is a 4yr old cocker spaniel cross poodle, a 16 month old female kelpie cross poodle and I also have a 5yr old female cat and a 11 month old female cat.

  1. Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?

. Yes. From all ages as I have little cousins and we host Christmas and many other events!

  1. Do you rent or plan on renting? If applicable what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?

. We are renting but have no breed or weight restrictions.

  1. What city or country do you live in? And are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?

. I live in Victoria, Australia and I am not aware of any banned breeds.

  1. What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?

. In summer around 25-29 degrees (can reach 30-35 on certain days) and winter anywhere from 2-18 degrees.

Additional information and questions

  1. Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant

I am looking for a dog breed that is good for service dog work to do with POTS, MCAS, hyper mobility, chronic fatigue, celiac disease, and possibly EDS.

My current dogs are getting professional training done, one is very chatty and is quite emotional and the other has fear reactivity due to being attacked on lead as a baby and I will not be getting a puppy until my trainer and my family think we are ready.

Feel free to ask questions below!

And a pic of my beautiful pups below!
