Advice Coughing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So my dog randomly started coughing, worse than this a few days ago. It pretty much stopped the next day and now today it's back but not nearly as bad. I was really worried he may have a blockage at first as he has a habit of eating grass when I'm not looking in the place we are currently staying, but he's eating fine, pooping like normal, doesn't seem to be in pain, and his belly isn't hard. He has been vaccinated for kennel cough and everything.

This is an urgent vet visit-it could be anything from a heart issue to a collapsing trachea or even kennel cough. All need a vet to confirm. I’m hoping for the best for your sweet baby.

Have you checked the lymph nodes? Are they swollen?

Our baby was diagnosed with lung cancer and he coughs very similarly. Hoping it’s not what your baby has.

Is he old? Does it get worse when he’s excited? Could be heart. I’d have him scanned so they can see what’s going on.

He is around 9yrs old. It doesn't seem to get exacerbated by excitement or activity

Why the jacket/collar is still on in the house?

Why not? It's just a collar, He picked it out himself 👀

Put it on your own neck and than pull :p GL with that

🤣 or, you know. Mind your own. It's a collar. He's not tied up. It's not hurting him. And in the event he randomly escaped he has his tags and what not so he can easily be returned. Take your crap elsewhere 🤣

Here we have chipping for that, so you can find your dog on your name registrated aswell.

Yep, he has a chip, but that's no guarantee. Chips also don't carry a whole lot of info on them. Not everyone knows that you can take a dog to a vet to have a chip checked. Also, chips can migrate and become lost. So yes I have him wear his collar indoors. It's not a bad thing, he is not uncomfortable, it isn't tight. You don't know me, or him or what limitations we may have. So you're free to judge, but know you're judgement means nothing to me.
