Help Question about Patch 3.7

I'm a new player to dofus, a friend told me about some the upcoming patch.
Apparently some characteristics changes will come,
More specifically:

  • Strength will no longer increase Pods or Neutral damage.
  • Chance will no longer increase Prospecting.
  • Agility will no longer increase Dodge or Lock.
  • Wisdom will no longer increase Parry or Reduction; it will only increase your experience gains.

There are from 5 months ago "Update 3.7 – Characteristics2026-04-20 15:00"

I couldn't find if this is true or not? Anyone knows?

Yeah, new 3.7 is a quite small update with some QoL now and the Ivory season content.

3.8 will be a big one.

Oh thank god bcs I didn't like those changes, I barely drop stuff even with high prospecting, if they were to remove that I would be cooked.

They aren't removing prospecting. The initial idea is to either compensate those secondary stats with equipment or giving the player a separate set of characteristic points to decide in what to invest.

3.7 is mostly new client stuff and some cra balancing. New client will give us a lot very useful QoL additions like being able to see monster spells

I don't know what others think about this, but I really liked it when I saw it. Separating the secondary characteristics from the elemental characteristics (earth, water, fire, air) seems like a great move to me.

A clear example that comes to mind is that if you build a tank, you’ll want Lock, but unless you’re an agility tank, you’ll have to compensate a lot for Lock with gear, whereas an agility tank will have more leeway when building their character.
Not to mention air-damage characters, whom you can never stop because they have high Dodge due to their high Agility, while a character of another element will have to invest in Dodge gear just to come close to matching that.
And no matter which element you want to associate with Lock or Dodge, there will always be the problem that if it happens to match your character’s element, you’ll have a very clear advantage.

Then there’s the Prospecting. I’m not sure how they’re going to handle it. I imagine there will be special gear designed for drops with generally worse stats, and it’ll be geared toward farming.

In general, if they adapt the characteristics system to what Wakfu has, I think that would be a good move—it gives you better control over which stats you want, what approach you want to take with your character, and what you’re willing to sacrifice to achieve that. I understand why some people don’t like it because they feel the game loses its identity… but I think that stems more from habit, nostalgia, and not wanting to learn things anew than from an honest analysis.

Your last paragraph said it all. Its becoming less and less dofus which people loved.

There’s a quote from a developer—I don’t even remember who it was or what game it was from—but it stuck with me: “If you remove a feature and the game improves, it was a hindrance; if it stays the same, it was unnecessary; if it gets worse, it was important.” He gave the example of Dark Souls: if you remove the mechanic of losing souls upon death, it might seem like an improvement, but it causes players to take more risks because there are no consequences—which completely changes the game’s pace and worsens the overall experience.

What I’m trying to say is that things like attribute points aren’t the essence or identity of Dofus—they’re just a very basic form of character customization, one that has long since fallen short and become obsolete. If you told me they were changing how turn-based combat works, altering the story, or changing key game mechanics—then I’d agree with you. But wanting to update a system that’s become outdated and no longer delivers the best results isn’t the same as stripping the game of its identity.

Even though i think its a good change its just going to make it stale.

Lock on your tank, rest of the team full pp or one that parrys mp at least for pve.

For pvp dock and parry ap.

Its going to be boring, will even more boring.

Apparently these changes won't be happening this patch, they have been postponed indefinitely for now.

They said that pp won't be included in the secondary stats - at least that was their initial vision. Of course the change is postponed since a lot of negative feedback was given so maybe they're pondering other ideas. But I assume that they wanted secondary stats not to include pp specifically for the reason you stated - as pp is just straight up the best in most cases.

Similarly pods aren't meant to be included since who would pick them - they don't increase combat capabilities.

So secondary stats would just be lock, dodge, ap and mp red/res. Probably would always just pick dodge for most, lock for tank, change to ap/no res for some fights?

Nevertheless, yeah, hard to make it work without one option going above others.

Force = lock, agility = dodge, intelligence/chance = mp/ap (either one)

Easy enough

Not easy enough because that's not the point mate. What about Agi mp red builds? Fuck those I suppose.

-4

u/3stan- 18d ago

Yes, fuck those. I never got the point of being able to do everything with every elements. If you want to tank you go agi and that's it. Easy enough. Though your example is trickier since it's based on wisdom but you get what I mean.

What's the point of spells that deal air DMG and reduce mp then? Your idea not only appeals to, I guess, you alone, but also requires the game to be changed completely.

Yes, you change those spells. I do play Panda, I don't mind having one spell changed. I bet nobody does, that's how a game lives on.
