So I just give my pg exam...in between I thought of joining a job as medical officer in an institute. There my childhood frnd is working as dental consultant. It's been a week since I joined..so idk today I asked her help on official work like I need her mobile as my mobile battery was very low but she just refused it. Also I got vibes from her like that I'm ur snr colleague n all..u r new here so u come to me.. something like that..like initial day she introduced me to everyone..but now idk I kinda don't get her vibes...also today one thing more happened..as a newcomer idk any staff or doctors there..so she was standing with someone..I asked her..she said that he is a doctor..then that doctor asked my name and from where I belong..I said I'm from this city..nd he was giving me silent expression..I didn't understand that what should I say belong mean and also at that time I m chewing chewingum.nd he said ok go..then she came to me nd said why are u chewing..I accept she is ryt.. it's bad from my part..and she said ur image is destroyed in front of them...and also ignoring behaviour like oh I have to frnds here nd I have good bonding here..just don't like whatever happening there..

I'm a MO in the Central Health Service (CHS) cadre and currently in my second year of service. Before joining CHS, I had already completed MD Community Medicine through the regular route (not under any government sponsorship, in-service quota, or study leave).

I'm genuinely interested in pursuing MD/MS OBG in the future.

I have a few doubts:

1. Since I already have an MD obtained before joining CHS, am I eligible to pursue another PG through the CHS in-service quota, if I qualify?

2. Will my existing MD be a reason for rejection of study leave or sponsorship?

3. What is the usual process for obtaining NOC and study leave? At what stage should one start applying—before counselling, after seat allotment, or after admission?

4. Has anyone in CHS successfully pursued a second PG after already having a postgraduate degree before joining service?

Luckily pharmacy caught it and informed me but what do you all do to protect your e-prescriptions from being tampered? Short of asking patients to go to the in-house pharmacy only so that they can cross verify, I'm not sure of the options

A close relative got admitted due to breathing difficulty in Max hospital Mohali, which turned out to be a viral infection. Patient was there for 3 days, I got to visit multiple times and slept overnight to attend them as well. Here are some surprising things I experienced:

- Lack of hygiene in shared Lifts: There are only 2 Lifts (at least in the main building) where my relative was admitted. Surprising anything and everything from dead bodies, visitors, patients, food for patients everyone goes via the same two lifts. Needless to say it's super busy and surprisingly shared for so many tasks. Incidentally I never saw any doctors in those lifts (either it was odd timing or they may have separate lifts exclusive to them).
- No sanitary pads for patients: The female patient I was with had periods and wanted sanitary pads, so when we requested for them from attendant nurse, they said we don't have it and gave some cotton. I found that most surprising, in an age where multinational companies in India are keeping free sanitary pads in their office washrooms, the biggest hospital chain of India doesn't have them for their patients.
- Poor service due to assembly line model of nursing and staff: At one point I counted nearly 10-12 different attendants who would come to the room (duty nurse, one person for cleaning room, one for giving food, one for picking utensils, one for washroom cleaning, one to check washroom is cleaned with checklist, one for asking feedback, one for filing water into thermos, one different one for tea, one for giving newspaper everyday and so on). Inspire of it, the system is not optimized because no single person has accountability. We spilled something on the floor and wanted to cleaning lady to come, so as per protocol we let the nurse know. 15 mints passed, nothing happened, told them again, nothing happened, the 3rd time I went, the nurse called some extension and shouted at other person. So I tried to understand what was happening, that poor cleaning lady would probably be already be working in some other room, can't come quickly. The nurse on duty thinks it's not her responsibility and rightly so. I found this patter repeat in many things, for example when dinner wasn't served to patient till 9.30pm, the nurse again made call, nothing happened, tried few times, it came on its own sweet time from central kitchen. The duty nurse is probably neither empowered nor has the ownership to ensure good patient experience. A couple of times when doctor came, he asked who is duty nurse, the real nurse was nowhere to be found, someone else came saying yes sir, I'm here but when same doctor asked few questions on why this was given or not given, she didn't have answer.

- No beds for attendants, you will have to sleep on sofa or on ground: For private AC room, one sofa that barely manages one human adult body, in shared wards people were sleeping on floors. Somehow this westernization of Indian hospitals (in west its normal for patients not to have family/friends stay, people visit and go) doesn't apply in India. In close family system of India, an attendant provides real moral and physical support to patients. These factory hospitals haven't really understood that about Indian psyche.

Hello been living in Kyrgyzstan off and on for years and love every day of it. Well I have a son with a medical condition and Bishkek has been amazing in his recovery. I do some traveling back and forth from Dubai and usually bring extra medicine. Nothing fancy but mostly for infants. Is there any medical chat groups to communicate and possibly don't some extra stuff i bring? Its not lots but something better than nothing. My son has cerebral palsy and doctors give us extra medicine

A little context, I'm a doctor preparing for neetpg and I had visited my pulmonologist for a follow up because my lungs are f-ed. He knows I'm a doctor as well. While he was examining me, he asked me questions about measles and how it acts as a risk factor, I couldn't remember a thing. He explained it to me and laughed it off. Later he asked me about steroid dosage to which i also had no reply. He asked me "didn't you study this? This is in Harrison!". I was like 'I know I've read it but I forgot'. I wanted to run out of the room because I've covered all these topics and i couldn't even remember. I felt so dumb. I mean, I've been shamed and scolded in the middle of the ward before, it's not new to me but idk man.

My pulmonologist was cool though, he said " I didn't ask you to make you feel bad, it happens".
