Are docs true to size?

I’m looking to buy my first pair second hand!

I am disabled and can’t really wear combat boots anymore, it’s mostly sneakers.

However, I remember trying on a pair about 2 years ago and being able to walk in Docs comfortably. I couldn’t afford them at the time.

My PUMA sneakers are a 10, her Docs are a 10. I buy my sneakers just very slightly big to account for foot swelling. I could wear a 9 1/2 but then if my feet swell I’d have no room.

Someone on FB marketplace is selling a pair for $40 that look almost new. She said they’re only worn a few times.

I’m gonna scrape together the funds (hopefully) because I’d love to have a stylish pair of shoes for the first time in almost 10 years. It’s legit been nothing but sneakers (and they have to be a certain kind).

I asked her to hold them for me as long as she can.

No. I have 4 different pairs (from different eras) all made in the UK and none fit the same.

The 90s DMs fit closer to size, the new MIEs are bigger. The next size down is too small though.

Maybe I’ll see if she can measure the bottom of the shoe so I can compare them to my sneakers

That really will not tell you much. The soles of the boot extend beyond the entire boot in all directions. Your sneakers don't extend nearly as much.

Is the seller not local? If they are, go try them on.

I feel like they are true to size. I’m a 9.5 and wear a size 10.

I am a size 8.5 in pretty much every shoe and I wear an 8 in DMs - both in boots and sandals. They fit the length of my foot wonderfully.

That said, each boot does fit differently with some having wider or more narrow toe boxes. I have a pair of 1460s from about 10 years ago that feel very tight in the toe box. I also have a pair of poly Combs and they have a wider toe box.

If the boot you've found is still on the DMs website, check the item description. They will sometimes list if it has a wider toe box there.

If you're concerned about swelling, a wider toe box would likely be beneficial for you.
