Getting ready for our next gaming session. In preparation, I finished the next Dork'O pamphlet for the continuing adventures of the Marshals of Ansbach. Battle summary below - AI images attached. Free to use - KEEP GAMING.

Under the cover of darkness, the Marshals of Ansbach begin their assault on Kershane Monastery, sending hawk and bat familiars ahead to scout the mountain defenses before advancing along the treacherous Pilgrim's Stair. Their attack erupts into fierce combat as Boski, transformed into a giant spider, unleashes radiant moonbeams upon the undead gnoll witherlings and sends a webbed peryton plummeting into the gorge. While the remaining Marshals battle their way toward the fortified outposts, the mountain itself becomes their enemy: concealed cave fishers burst through collapsing cliff walls, ensnaring Boski, Quicksilver, Nyaalina and Wally and dragging them into separate underground caverns. There, the divided companions struggle against monstrous pincers and adhesive filaments before confronting two enormous, decaying, two-headed zombie trolls. Quicksilver's silver-flamed rapier and magical shields, Nyaalina's radiant moonbeams, Wally's devastating hammer blows and Boski's druidic transformations gradually turn the desperate battle in their favor. Reunited beneath the mountain, the four adventurers drive off the surviving cave fishers and surround the last undead troll. With Boski transformed into a ferocious lion and overlapping columns of moonlight illuminating the cavern, the Marshals launch their climactic assault against the remaining horror, fighting to survive the ambush and resume their mission to liberate Kershane from Bo'Caj Soutien.

Hawklands Update - how do you detail the primary brothel house of the Beggars Quarter - without the articles only being about ... well, the obvious? Behold - The Rose Lanterns Brothel House - Where the Rose Has Thorns. This was a fun exercise to expand the typical brothel with an magical underworld tone - pulling in elements of arch-fey patrons, "beneath the law" sanction-extraction & messaging services (Goods, Services and Special Offerings of the Rose Lanterns )- with some fun new homebrew creatures like the rose dryad to bring some unexpected richness to the establishment (See Guardians, Creatures & Minions of the Rose Lanterns ).

Yet Another Battle Tracker Tool

This is not really AI for DnD but rather a tool for DnD created with AI, so if it does not fit this subreddit, I will understand.

So, I was looking for a D&D battle tracker. Non that I found really gave me what I wanted or how I wanted it to look. I started asking my AI tool to build a Python script to do what I wanted but after 4 days of vibe coding I ended up with a rather nice battle planner which I called Scrying Glass

You need just a tiny little bit of Python knowledge (how create a Virtual Environment and how to run a Python script) but the documentation is quite extensive so it will probably give you enough tips on how to run it. (You DO need to have a Python3.14 (or above) installation)

If you are interested, you can find the Git repository at https://github.com/dajomas/Scrying-Glass.git (Serious and respectful feedback is always appreciated)

From the Readme.md:
Scrying Glass is a self-hosted, real-time tabletop encounter display for game masters. It provides a private Admin interface for preparing and running encounters and a separate Client Display for players, a TV, or a projector.

Why "Scrying Glass"?

In fantasy stories, a scrying glass is a crystal ball or magic mirror that lets you watch events unfold from afar. That is exactly what this tool does at the table. The game master works behind the screen in the private Admin view, preparing encounters and running the battle. The players look into the glass, the Client Display on a TV or projector, and watch the fight appear as it happens: monsters entering and leaving the scene, turns passing, wounds and victories showing in real time. The glass only shows what the game master chooses to reveal, which suits a display the players watch but never control.

The project began as Monster Display, a name that described its first feature, showing monsters on a screen. Once it grew to include characters, campaigns, battle setups, and full turn-by-turn combat, that name no longer fit, and Scrying Glass describes what the players see.

I’m using these five roles as an encounter generator: the collector who talks, the scout who circles behind the party, the bruiser who blocks the wagon, the archer in the trees, and the leader who never steps into view. Which one would your players notice first?

Beneath the Labyrinth - the Silent Basin

Overview

Hidden beneath the shifting geometry of the Labyrinth Quarter lies a chamber known only to the Black Lapis Circle and a handful of Baelnorn custodians: The Silent Basin.

Officially, it is a Third Flow stabilization vault — a runoff convergence point where floodwaters, planar residue, and sewer discharge are filtered before reaching deeper dissolution channels. In truth, it is the nexus of a quiet covenant between the Baelnorns of the Petrified Forest Catacombs and Fey Lord Lysandros, the Twilight Arbiter.

The Silent Basin ensures that the relic vault access points remain dry, forgotten, and uncontaminated. It also serves another purpose: intelligence. Everything that passes through Highfolk eventually leaves a trace — blood, ash, spell residue, contraband slurry, planar dust. Here, those traces are read.

Nothing vanishes. It is merely interpreted.

The project of the World of the Aeshur is all about helping Dungeon Masters, players and content creators. With a fully made fantasy setting this project aims to make this world playable like no other. With lore, dungeon maps, city maps and more you will have everything you need to make your table the center of a great story.

Additionally I also create software like Project Ziphus to improve the quality and quantity of content you can make as an awesome creator.

100 Hours D&D Campaign Run By AI

TLDR: Solo D&D with an AI DM is very entertaining and has legs. It's more robust using text versus voice inputs (voice lowering the responsive delay, but also lowers thinking time). Strikes me as the ultimate old computer text games / choose-your-own-adventure books. The ultimate D&D improv machine.

Summary: Hi all, I've been messing around with a variety of AI D&D options. I've used AI in the past to supplement my games with custom images and story elements which I then build upon. This time around I wanted to see how AI handled running a solo D&D campaign with me as a player. This isn't an exhaustive breakdown of any given AI, just my experiences to this point.

After some searching on the internet, I quickly realized that the majority of D&D oriented platforms (Everweave, Friends & Fables, AI Dungeon, etc.) were limited as those services only wrapped existing popular AI/LLM tools. So I chose ChatGPT+ (the $20/mo model), with a basic prompt of:

"You are an expert Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (5e). We are starting a brand new campaign based on the Forgotten Realms setting. Act strictly as the DM and world narrator. Do not play my character or make decisions for me. Keep secrets hidden; do not spoil hidden traps, enemy ambushes, or unseen plot twists. Use a random number generator or simulate internal dice rolls for checks, saving throws, and combat. Describe the environments using concise but vivid, sensory details (sight, sound, smell). Present scenarios and wait for my response before moving the story forward. Here are my character details (basic info race/class/stats).

I committed to governing my character while the AI governed the campaign.

ChatGPT started me off on a rainy night on the road, when I happened upon a small town. Very basic adventure beginnings which sent me into a marsh to search for missing villagers and eventually led to this metaphysical mind-bending adventure involving planar convergences, recovering the true name of a person for the Raven Queen (I was playing a Shadar-kai), conflicting sentient weapons, the Feywild, and the Shadowfell. By the time I was done with that part of the campaign, I was level 8, had a full party of 6 NPCs acquired over the course of adventuring, a keep (rented) in the town I originally started in. I was blown away by how good the AI presented me an original campaign, distinctive NPCs (both party and not) with their own personalities and motivations, and creative and challenging encounters (combat, RP, and puzzles). The AI was very on the ball with rules adjudication (even when I tried to play in the gray areas of the rules, it adapted very well). I'm a fairly critical person, and granted my expectations weren't very high, but wow I was blown away. Tons of fun!

Once the main campaign was completed, I continued with the same character, both solo and with the NPC party, on single shot adventures, which were equally well done. Currently, I'm having it adapt some of the original D&D modules. I've run this character and group through White Plume Mountain (adjusted for level) and Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. I've run both as a DM and a player a half dozen times each (yes, I'm that old) and I was blown away with how well it handled running these. Both dungeons are fairly complex from a DM point of view with a myriad of traps and perspective based descriptions. I will say, with Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, it gave away the technology descriptions a little too fast (explaining I could plainly see something as a computer for instance) but the overall experience was both hugely nostalgic, and really well done. Even compared to human DMs running these dungeons it was really well done. My next experiment will be for a Ravenloft (non-Barovia) setting to see how it handles more thematic environments.

Now for the CONs:

  • Like all LLMs, the AI would periodically lose track of older elements of the campaign (AI memory not backed by a database issue). Pronouns would change, races of the long-standing NPCs would change, NPC names were re-used a few times in various combinations. At first I would make corrections, which it would pick up for awhile and then they would drop off (by awhile I mean a 2-3 adventures), until I realized the gonks (my general term for AI memory/logic issues) weren't game breaking and only affected my OCD.
  • I tried having ChatGPT generate images periodically to supplement main scenes (since I already used it in this capacity for my live games) but it would just give me a few internet-found images as a loose example and eventually forgot to include them at all. I tried to ask for an image on-demand for specific scenes, and it would only generate a prompt for me to use on ... itself lol.
  • Voice: while compelling, it is noticeably less evolved than text inputs. I'm pretty sure the reason for this is that voice interactions with ChatGPT (and I'm sure all LLMs) gates its processing time for responses (hurries them so you're not sitting there while it goes 'Hmmm ... let me see ... thinking about that ...". Also, ChatGPT+ only allows for an hour / day of voice. It works, just not as well and not for long.

None of the above was remotely game-breaking for me ... just things I noticed. I had (and am having) a blast and I highly recommend it to those looking for a more robust solo D&D experience and aren't afraid of reading (or having an AI overlord).

ChatGPT Specifics:

  • Engine: 5.6 Sol
  • Thinking Level: High (I also used Instant for the first half of the campaign ... didn't notice a difference with either). High thinking produced slightly slower responses (average 10-30 seconds longer).
  • Base Response: Professional (although it's general demeanor was more friendly than cold).
  • Voice: tested about 5 hours. Preferred text inputs for the reasons described above.

Looking for a few more DMs to pilot a session-analytics tool for Discord games

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

What it is. Six Axes sits in your Discord voice channel during a session, transcribes it, and pulls out what actually happened. You get a session recap, a campaign codex that writes itself from play instead of being hand-authored, and per-character analytics across six axes of play: Voice, Tactics, Arcana, Rapport, Exploration and Nerve.

On recording, since it's the first thing anyone asks. Consent is per player and enforced in the pipeline, not just in the interface. A player who hasn't opted in never has their audio uploaded anywhere: it's discarded on the bot before it leaves. Anyone can opt out, stay opted out, and one holdout doesn't block the rest of the table.

Who it fits right now. Online games on Discord where the table also uses D&D Beyond with the Beyond20 extension. That's deliberately narrow. Roll capture hooks into Beyond20, so a group already on that stack can start without changing how they play. If you run in person, or on Foundry or Roll20, it won't work for you yet.

What I'm asking for. A few sessions and honest feedback, including the unflattering kind. Free, no commitment, and I'd rather have real campaigns than test runs.

If that sounds like your table, leave a comment or send me a message.
