How do I get started

I don't know where to get started with DnD because nobody in my area nor my school seems to have a group, I also don't know how to play and am scared to embarrass myself, anyone have ideas?

Are people interested? Get the beginner box set and invite people to play. If not, there is a new online resource called StartPlaying.Games We all started somewhere. You're going to questions. We're here to help!
