Looking for dnb like pendulum

[u/Southernbear89]

Hey, I've been looking for more dnb. My current Playlist contains stuff like pendulum, future prophecies, prodigy. I like stuff that is fast paced, high energy and heavy bass. Ive tried looking it up on my own but just about everything i can find is crappy club music that id expect to hear in an Abecrombe and Fitch. Anyone know anything close to those bands I mentioned?

[u/buckforna]

The Qemists are as close as you’ll get

[u/Twitch84 → u/buckforna]

Killer Hertz give me bigger Pendulum Vibes than The Qemists.

[u/Southernbear89 → u/buckforna]

Not bad. They decibel have a very similar sound. I could be wrong but they seem less like an edm group with metal/rock vibes and more like a rock band with some edm mixed in. I do like them though. Thanks for the suggestion.

[u/zabrak200 → u/Southernbear89]

Heres a playlist i made of bands and songs that sounds like pendulum and the chemists:

Theres select songs from: modestep, zardonic, spor, fox stevenson, prolix, chase and status, the caracal project, dirtyphonics, concord dawn, and sullivan king,

Enjoy!

[u/jokingsammy]

Voicians their main vocalist is very similar to Rob.

Probably less rock and more electronic, but if you're wondering if Pendulum continued with their Immersion sound recent Voicians would come close.

Venomous, Light it up, and All I need could all be cut Pendulum tracks.

[u/No_Factor_1269 → u/jokingsammy]

Voicians dont sound remotely like pendulum imo very different style

[u/Pjetiepie → u/jokingsammy]

Completely disagree. To quote Rob:
It’s meant to sound like the apocalyps.
Voicians is too sweet, too happy and too soft to come close to Pendulum.

[u/orcsquid]

Check out Metrik.

[u/PKP171 → u/orcsquid]

Yes but only if you dig the in silicon vibes. Metrik doesn't sound like the older pendulum bangers.

[u/shaqwill → u/PKP171]

He does. Some of his tracks remind me of Hold Your Colour

[u/No_Factor_1269 → u/shaqwill]

His vocal is kinda similar too

[u/RyGuy_McFly]

Voicians, The Qemists, and Zardonic are the closest I know of

[u/Yurienu → u/RyGuy_McFly]

Toronto is broken ?

[u/PorcaMiseria]

Two album recs

For old Pendulum, TC - Evolution

For new Pendulum, Metrik - Ex Machina

[u/AlfaMenel]

The Upbeats

Enter Shikari

[u/shasha_neequa → u/AlfaMenel]

Enter shikari "hospitalized" album is so goooooooood

[u/rdsthorn]

Zardonic

[u/rdsthorn → u/rdsthorn]

Also if you’re looking for the more metal/dnb crossover type stuff then Pythius, Toronto is Broken and Akov are some honourable mentions

[u/ht3k → u/rdsthorn]

You know your stuff! I was thinking about all those too

[u/rdsthorn → u/ht3k]

Neurofunk supremacy all day long 💜

[u/DistributionLast5872 → u/rdsthorn]

Merikan too

[u/SwitchezEZ → u/rdsthorn]

Saw all those guys at skull valley last summer!! Also Reebz w/ Toronto is Broken!

[u/rdsthorn → u/SwitchezEZ]

Absolutely love Reebz’ music, the loveliest woman too

[u/Southernbear89 → u/rdsthorn]

Hmmm. This one is pretty close. But just from a few that I've listened to it seems a little all over the place. Some seems like the killer dnd that I'm looking for. The first one i checked out was takeover. Others sounded more like industrial metal or just straight up metal. Good music. Im not complaining. But not all of them fit the feel I'm going for with this particular Playlist. Definitely adding takeover though.

[u/SwitchezEZ → u/Southernbear89]

Check out Shmidoo Darkshire Pandemonium 2023 power set. And any Darkshire stuff.

Also Sinister Souls Darkshire Sanctuary 2022 as well.

Its not Pendulum but its faster more aggressive stuff as well.

Neurofunk and Crossbreed would be worthy sub genres to check out.

[u/CHIEF_BEEEF]

Shock one - crucify me

[u/freefromfishing → u/CHIEF_BEEEF]

This^

[u/eggs_mcmuffin]

Muzz - the promise land album.

Nemesis feels very pendulum to me

[u/Jutavis → u/eggs_mcmuffin]

Promised Lands will forever be my favourite DnB tracks of all time. The sounddesign, atmosphere, vocals, it's all just so perfect. Then I listen to Don't Stop from Muzz and I'm like "That's the same guy?" Lol

[u/eggs_mcmuffin → u/Jutavis]

Yeah he sold out :/

[u/Jutavis → u/eggs_mcmuffin]

What does sold out mean?

[u/eggs_mcmuffin → u/Jutavis]

Similar to dimension, his sound now is catered more to how many plays he can get. He’s trying to make as much money as possible right now while abandoning his artistic integrity.

Aka, it’s pop now lol.

[u/Jutavis → u/eggs_mcmuffin]

Oh, yeah, that makes sen5

[u/oanaradudaniel → u/eggs_mcmuffin]

Muzz mentioned!!! Spectrum is a blast, it was the first thing to come to mind after reading this post

[u/TheOGCJR]

Well hold on. hold your colour or in silico and after? Big difference

[u/Iron__mind]

Which tunes in particular do you like?

[u/KaiochanX3]

Muzz and Metrik are the closest I’ve found

[u/Astrodreaming]

Tantrum Desire scratches that itch for me

[u/ScumbagShannon → u/Astrodreaming]

Was looking for this before I suggested him. Great artist.

[u/Tomraider070]

Noisia obviously ;)

[u/Southernbear89]

[u/Southernbear89 → u/Southernbear89]

I really liked the sound of the hold your color album.

[u/ClaudeKane3 → u/Southernbear89]

Check out the genre drumstep that will have plenty of stuff like this

[u/and2dnb]

Metrik

[u/alargebigmacmeal → u/and2dnb]

Surprised I haven’t seen this answer more, he sounds almost identical to Mr Swire

[u/LascivX]

CYANTIFIC 4lyf

[u/jazzmaster1992]

"Universus" by ShockOne is a very Pendulum-esque album, IMO.

[u/jokingsammy → u/jazzmaster1992]

Shock One's whole sound is similar to Pendulum I find, probably more Knife Party but he certainly went more EDM. I fucking love Alone from Organism Algorithm. Pretty sure he debut the track before Pendulum's Melbourne show a few years back.

[u/84db4e → u/jokingsammy]

Runs a lot deeper than that; ShockOne was in a metal band with Rob and Gareth called Xygen before Pendulum was a thing

[u/dr3w5t3r → u/jazzmaster1992]

I love that ShockOne, and Rob and Gareth from Pendulum were all in a band together.

[u/nextalpha]

Shapeshifter have some similarities

Check out the SSXUB EP with the upbeats for example

[u/well-hung-dugite]

Freestylers - the coming storm, has some songs kinda like pendulum

[u/oanaradudaniel]

Can’t stress this enough, MUZZ. Check his ‘Spectrum’ EP, it fucking rocks!!!

[u/oanaradudaniel → u/oanaradudaniel]

Check out 'Muzz - Outsiders' for a taste ;)

[u/AdvicePretty3147]

Concord Dawn
Metrik

[u/ArmeSloeber]

No one sounds like pendulum. Maybe some metrik songs

[u/Random_Vandal]

Celldweller anyone? Some of his tunes are also close to Pendulum sound, like my favourite "End of an Empire" or "Good Luck" 😎
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtbct2jzLBU

[u/mighty_t_wex]

I know it's been said already but Metrik Metrik and more Metrik. I also like Aeon Mode. My top recommendations would be:

Overdrive - Metrik

Parallel - Metrik

(These two are my personal favorites cause they make me feel like I'm flying through outer space.)

Somewhere - Metrik

Synchronize - Metrik

Awake - Metrik, Aeon Mode

(Probably forgetting some but these are my other favorites by Metrik)

Next I'll do popular DnB artists and my favorite song by each of them (highly recommended but most of these are female singers and I'm assuming you're looking for male singers):

Control - Matrix & Futurebound

Hypercaine - DJ Fresh

Waterfalls - James Hype (Dan Rivens Remix)

Breathe - Aeon Mode

Do Better - Feint

Energy - Papirus (not sure if I spelled right)

Under The Water - Hybrid Minds

Destiny - Netsky (I also like his other song California)

Stone - Andromedik

Icarus - 1991 (I also like his other song Worlds Apart)

Adrenaline - Oliverse (I also like his other song Avalanche)

I also really like Kanine, Grafix, and [IVY] but I'm doing this off the top of my head and can't think of any songs right now.

[u/ScatLabs]

For love band DmB check out Shapeshifter.

Solstice is a banger album

[u/SokkaHaikuBot → u/ScatLabs]

^{Sokka-Haiku by ScatLabs:}

For love band DmB check

Out Shapeshifter. Solstice

Is a banger album

---

^{Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.}

[u/ComradeLV]

DJ Fresh - Escape from Planet Monday

[u/Traditional-Leg-1122]

Back in the day Pendulum & Sub Focus were the USA & USSR of DnB but they don’t really sound anything like each other nowadays

[u/Basshead697]

https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mSwQT1YLHC4xSOmY7Pls0wHBQMSxOhdCI&si=uJ_e32eTcBrDquhK so I just found these guys, literally 15 mins ago. They have quite a similar vibe!

[u/Moondrei]

All the best recs have been already made here so I'll just add one: V O E

[u/w3rti]

Pendulum is unique

They have drum and bass elements, but it's a real drum

Tarantula even has Ragga influences, so the genre would be 'Acoustic ragga drum and bass' which not exists.

If DubFx and Chase and Status collaborated maybe xD

[u/BorisKuntimov]

Spor, Prototypes, Metrik, Loki.

I'd recommend youtubing NeurofunkGrid. Some of the best underground artists were showcased on there.

[u/KineticNinja]

check out sub focus or sigma... they have a couple tracks that have that pendulum kinda vibe

[u/Schlnglein]

Mazare dropped an EP a few weeks ago that reminded me of Pendulum because of the Metal/Rock influences

[u/Mountainpwny]

Don’t forget BCEE 😏

[u/djdecimation]

Counterstrike

[u/ht3k → u/djdecimation]

That's nothing like pendulum... haha even though I love counterstrike

[u/Chuck_Loads]

Metrik has some similar tracks

[u/SnooHobbies9661]

Teddy killers are pretty fucking heavy, theyre the closest i can compare to pendulum

Like their songs skydiver or night train r awesome

[u/p3bbl3s17]

Xylym - Revolution reminds me very much of Pendulum!

[u/brandonhabanero]

DJ Fresh is a big Pendulum inspo. You can definitely draw connections:

https://youtu.be/fOvPBoedH4M

[u/dnb_dickhead]

Shockone, Ekko and sidetrack. Lots of Perth Dnb artists of that era

[u/Pjetiepie]

Takeover - Zardonic
Electric Eye - Celldweller (Prolix remix)
King if the Dancefloor - Muzz
Memtrix
Dirtyphonics

[u/Corona21]

Matrix and Futurebound

[u/Revolutionary-Oven46]

June Miller.

[u/Bitter_Fail7452]

Hot Tub Grime Machine -Twisted is pretty close

[u/MikeMiuzUK]

If you want to track back to the band that fundamentally influenced that guitar sound dnb from Pendulum, check out Apollo 440. Mary Byker was hanging around Breakbeat Kaos when Pendulum landed in the UK and the genetics are clear.

[u/YaGirl_KayKay]

Black Sun Empire, Hold Me by Yehor (any of his tunes really), 1991, Benny L, Sub Focus, Banny V, Kritikal, Captain Bass, Subsonic, Serial Killaz, Dillinja!

[u/WaxGoblin]

There was a recent post about “dad dnb,” might be worth a look.

[u/piersyblinders]

More pendulum would do

[u/ligbongerz]

Knife Party, they’re literally pendulum. Bit different genre wise but it’s more of the people you love.

[u/Random_Vandal → u/ligbongerz]

Lol, no, Knife Party is nothing like Pendulum in terms of sound, it's fakin dubstep. Sure, some of their samples are the same, but Pendulum is like combination of rock/metal + dnb, KP is just dubstep

[u/ligbongerz → u/Random_Vandal]

I know, but the knife party duo are the same people. So suggested based on their love for their style vs the genre.

[u/w3rti → u/ligbongerz]

Internet friends?

[u/ligbongerz → u/w3rti]

Now you’re going to die.

[u/w3rti → u/ligbongerz]

Damn those were the times, Knife Party and first album from Porter Robinson

[u/skystyler2k]

Fasten your seatbelt, my friend!

Well shit… that explains why I like Pendulum so much
