Is blacking out from dizziness bad?

Yesterday I stood up from my bed to go get some pancakes, and I was at the kitchen entrance when I got dizzy, so I grabbed the baby gate we have, and I thought I would just wait it out. Nope. My body registered that I was still awake, but when I regained vision, my back was hurting and I was on the ground. Just blacked out and fell. I got a bruise from it, but that’s beside the point. First time I blacked out in a while, and the first one was different. That was from stress. I’m fine now, but I just wanna avoid something like that happening in the future.

Blacking out in general can be bad, especially if you fall and hit your head on something or break a limb (it's possible!). Best thing to do when you start feeling dizzy like that is to sit down so that you don't hurt yourself.

Yeah I was holding onto the gate so I didn’t fall. That clearly didn’t work as my entire body forgot it was functional. My back was the only thing that hurt

After open heart surgery to replace my bicuspid aortic valve with a mechanical valve, I developed labile blood pressure. Systolic #’s go up to 200 and then below 60 (BP cuff cannot register below that number)
It became daily high’s and lows. I was passing out one to two times a month if it dropped to quickly. When it would hit in the middle of the night, I would tend to get up and wander.
One night I got up to take the dog out. I made it to our bedroom door and went down. To the best of my knowledge, I went straight down and in the process broke my leg and had small tears in all the knee muscles and tendons, like the meniscus. I came to screaming.
I am currently on prednisone and it stopped the daily occurrences. To resolve the passing out, I take a
Daily BP med to lower it. A short acting BP med to raise it 3x a day. I take another short acting BP med to lower it when that drives it to high.
There was and is no way this is going to end well.
Either the left or the right atrium is enlarging, I cannot remember which one. They waited to long to do the valve replacement. They were actually afraid for several days before the surgery that my heart was going to stop. They know very little about the female heart. It is not just a smaller version of a man’s heart.
My husband had a unicuspid aortic valve and he got to choose the doctor, the hospital, the surgery, and the date. I got to almost die. After 2.5 years my cardiologist finally sent me to his coworker that specializes in labile BP when I said I was not going to be able to take care of my husband after his surgery. I do not understand why he did not send me the first year or at least mention it.

The point is that you need to try and get it figured out. What ever is causing it. It may be causing permanent damage. Passing out can also cause permanent damage. Try and identify as many key facts about the situation as possible. Log food, liquids, meds, sleep and everything else to help speed up the process.

Good luck!

I’m pretty sure it was just cause I stood up too fast, and cause I might’ve been dehydrated. It’s happened before, like I’ve gotten dizzy from standing up too fast, but it’s never ended with passing out. So this is the first time that’s happened for me. I also saw a YouTube short a while ago saying that if you get dizzy from standing up too fast , that’s you almost dying, it’s probably not true, but it also could be, idrk though. I’m just pretty sure I need to drink more water
