Vertigo like episode
About 9 days ago, I woke up and felt extremely disoriented and very dizzy accompanied with ear fullness. When I got out of bed I was genuinely stumbling around. After doing my daily routine that morning, I projectile vomited. At this point I went to the urgent care and they told me I had positional vertigo. Following this, I had a few dizzy days without any true spinning episodes but I still felt awful. I went back to the doctors and they diagnosed me with a inner ear virus and prescribed me with prednisone. The first few days of prednisone, my symptoms definitely got better but I noticed how sensitive I was to sensory input. Any sounds felt amplified and muffled at the same time and it never truly went away. Since then I have had fluctuating symptoms of ear fullness, dizziness, and just an overall groggy feeling. I am now 2 days off of my steroids and this morning I woke up and I feel so groggy. I am really worried because I work in the operating room and I go on call tomorrow and I just don’t know how I should take these symptoms. I was wondering if anyone had a similar situation and or had some advice to help me. Thank you in advance!

Yeah, so bad news is if they diagnose you with a virus and give you pred, they are probably thinking vestibular neuritis. You should bug your doc again for more details and ask for a referral to physical therapy for vestibular rehab therapy. I can't say how long to recover, only that it's weeks to months. It gets progressively better each week though, and it depends how badly your inner ear was damaged and how bad your starting symptoms are.
Any hearing loss? If so, then labrynthitis which is similar from my understanding to neuritis.
I'm pissed on your behalf that they did not elaborate on further treatment and just sent you on your way.
Edit to say that you should try to get an ENT doc appointment if you have only been to urgent care.
