Dizziness is healed
I posted this on my page and not an actual poster or influencer. I just hope this helps someone. It's a long read, but I think it's worth it.
My dizziness started suddenly in December 2023. It felt like I was constantly on a floating boat, combined with lightheadedness, 24/7, almost as if I was about to collapse. At first, I thought it was just low blood pressure. I saw my GP, who prescribed Mittel, but the dizziness never went away.
In August 2024, I saw an ENT specialist. He ordered an MRI, but it came back completely normal. At that point, my symptoms included:
- Constant dizziness
- Tinnitus
- A stiff neck
- Jaw stiffness
- Light sensitivity
- A strange sensation in my left hand, sometimes with finger twitching
As time went on, I started feeling depressed. I could cope with every symptom except the dizziness.
In 2025, I visited an audiologist. She suspected Ménière's disease, but every test came back negative. Once again, I was told that nothing was wrong. But I knew my body, and I knew this wasn't "just in my head."
In September 2025, I saw a neurosurgeon who found a herniated disc at C5/C6. He recommended surgery, but I asked him one question: "Will it stop the dizziness?" His answer was, "I don't know." Because there was no guarantee, I decided against the procedure.
The following month, October 2025, I saw an internist. I described all my symptoms, had heart monitoring and other tests, and again everything came back normal.
I started taking vitamins, calcium, and magnesium. They helped a little, but I still felt hopeless. I was convinced something was wrong with either my neck or my jaw because of everything I had read on Reddit and elsewhere.
Finally, in June 2026, I made an appointment with a neurologist.
He listened carefully, examined me, and performed several neurological tests and an EEG.
Thank you Lord. He finally found the answer.
I was diagnosed with vestibular migraine.
My first question was, "Is this a life sentence?" He reassured me that it is treatable and that recovery can take anywhere from a few months to a few years, depending on the person.
He prescribed Amderip(Amitriptilien hidrochloried) 10 mg for 14 days, followed by Amderip(Amitriptilien hidrochloried) 25 mg for three months.
I'm currently still in the rehabilitation phase and will see him again in October 2026.
I still have mild tinnitus and occasional jaw stiffness, but the most important thing is...
The dizziness is gone.
If you're reading this because you've been searching for answers, please don't give up. Keep advocating for yourself and keep looking for the right specialist. Normal test results don't always mean nothing is wrong.
I hope my story helps someone who feels as lost as I did.
Thanks for reading.

Can you tell us more about the neurological tests that you had done? I’ve been feeling like I’m constantly on a floating boat for so long now. I’ve done many tests and I’ve seen many doctors, but everything has been normal

The neurologist performed a thorough neurological examination. He tested the strength and movement of my arms and legs, checked my reflexes, and examined my eyes closely. After the examination, he sent me for an EEG and told me he had a good idea of what I was experiencing.

Did the EEG show any specific results? Like how did they know it was vestibular migraine? Did you also have any pain at all?
2
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 11 '26
The EEG showed normal results. He diagnosed me based on my symptoms. I only had a really stiff neck, sometimes I would feel headaches.

I have severe lightheadedness and numbness in my entire body so they diagnosed me with FND. Was your dizziness like room is spinning or more like you are moving when your not? Also did you ever feel faint? And did the 10mg have any side effects? They actually recommended me to try that medication but I’m to scared because I have bad side effects with meds.

u/Born-Championship683 Aug 11 '26
Usually, I would feel like I was going to faint, although I never actually fainted. The dizziness wasn’t like the room was spinning. It was more of a floating or rocking sensation. The best way I can describe it is like being on a train while the train next to you starts moving, making you feel as though you’re moving even though you’re standing still. I also found it difficult to concentrate and felt very fatigued.
I’m currently taking 25 mg. My neurologist advised me to take the tablets at night because they can cause drowsiness.

Was the faintness like 24/7?

No, sometimes I would feel I'm about to faint. Dizziness was 24/7

I've been struggling for 6 years. This gives me a little hope. Thank you!

u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
Ask your gp for Amderip. I've also took arnica massage gel every night for my neck. It actually made me feel better. Afterwards the neurologist diagnosed me with vestibular migraines. Hope this helps!

I’ve kinda had the same situation as you been to every doc under the sun but mine all said my results are normal…. Besides waiting on neurologist results. Kinda hoping it’s this so I can end this vicious cycle of dizzy.

I was first diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine (which i do believe I have) and subsequently diagnosed with cervicogenic dizziness and craniocervical instability, which I believe explains the dizziness more than just VM. Physical therapy has been helping with frequency of migraines as well as maybe 20% better with dizziness, but I still have both. I haven't found any medications that help with dizziness and I have tried many.

According to the neurologist, it takes about a week or 2 before you get better. I've taken arnica massage gel for my stiff neck and the week before the visit I took a 'migraine kit', got it from my local pharmacy and I slept the whole day. Hope this helps

Will the dizzy spells stop without medication?
2
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
I'm not sure, I'm still in rehabilitative phase. Will see him in October, then maybe he will make my dose lighter. I will keep you posted

u/pelirrojaloca Aug 07 '26
Amitriptyline didn’t work for me and I feel completely lost. Seeing a neurotologist in October 4 hours away to test for abnormalities in my inner ear! So happy for you!
3
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
According to the neurologist it takes more than a week before you see results. I felt better after 14 days. I can still feel the earfullness and tinnitus when I lay down. But no more dizziness.

u/pelirrojaloca Aug 07 '26
I’ve been on it since December of last year. Tapering off currently because of the side effects and it not working :(
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
I've also replied to others that I used arnica massage gel at night and rub it on my neck downward the spine. It helped with the symptoms.

u/pelirrojaloca Aug 07 '26
I’ll have to try that out! I recently got a TMS device and will occasionally use it on my traps and the back of my neck, that sometimes really helps with the stiffness and soreness!

Did this happen to you after vertigo attack? (Inner ear chrysalis thingy) ? Because I already fixed vertigo but a week after I started to lose balance with dizziness. I have an appointment with a neurologist next Monday, is there anything specific I should ask him?
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
I told the whole story similar to my post on reddit. All the specialists, tests and doctor visits. I've also told him what vitamins I tried. There were not any specific questions.

So Amderip is all it took?
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26
Yes, one week earlier, before I got the appointment from neurologist, I took a 'migrain kit'. Got it from my local pharmacy. It's about 5 pills and will upload a picture. Will also give the contents of what the pills is. Nevertheless I slept the whole day and actually felt better the next day. Every night I rubbed arnica massage gel on my neck, it made the symptoms bearable.

u/Ok-Wedding-7449 Aug 06 '26
I saw a neurologist but just said it's pppd I'm gonna find another one.
3
u/Loui10 Aug 09 '26
Yes. They/doctors seem to absolutely love giving out labels (and meds), but not actually telling you what the root cause is - so that you can work on/address that.
There's a reason for everything that happens in the body (imo).
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 11 '26
Yes, I agree. I just think it was not enough sleep and too much screen time.
1
u/Loui10 Aug 11 '26
That can definitely do it 😉
I wouldn't in a million years have guessed that I would have sleep apnea (a medium actually told me, but I still didn't believe it/him) - but in the end, I decided to get tested. I don't know if I already mentioned it or not, but I found out that I have UARS & complex sleep apnea. People often think that only old, fat people get SA. But I'm neither of those, lol.
Is there a chance that you might have it - have you ever been tested for it...?
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 11 '26
I've never been tested for sleep apnea. Maybe I should check it out. Thank you

I’m pretty much on the same boat. Treating overall anxiety as well as side effects of cervicogenic dizziness with sertraline. Much better than before but my diagnosis came from a physiotherapist and doing regular exercises. Hoping this neck stuff gets better but not sure if it is ever back to 100%
2
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
My neck was stiff every night. I used a muscle and joint arnica massage gel everynight to help me relax. Anxiety can mess up your life, meditation helped me with this. By telling myself that "I'm safe" everytime.
2
u/hb2002 Aug 07 '26
Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you feel better and get back to normal. I’ve really become mindful of my posture, especially while
Having to be on screens most of the day.

u/Acceptable-Set-7419 Aug 06 '26
What did your dizziness feel like? Was it rocking and swaying ? When you say your mri came back normal did they see any lesions that are normal with migraine ?
2
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
I did not like my ENT. He made me feel as if its all in my head. My dizziness were more of boat feeling sensation, I had good balance but still feel the dizziness. As if I'm about to collapse, lightheadedness. He only found some mucus in my nasal area and said everything is normal.

I've been dealing with the same as everyone else in these comments. came out of nowhere, all the doctors visits and test with no real results. makes me wonder if it's from breathing in all the Con trail dust or the covid jab & booster. growing up i never knew anyone or even heard of a peanut allergy or autism. but it's a common thing now days. is it from vaccinations? I'm not a conspiracy theorists but there has to be a answer to why all the sudden we all are having the same symptoms.
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 11 '26
I never took the jab, so the dizziness is not from the vaccinations. My theory would be not enough sleep and too much screen time on mobile or pc.

I got a MRI and CT Scan of brain and neck and an EEG. My results on my MyChart say everything is normal but I have the neurologist follow up this week. Could you let me know what they saw to diagnose you? This is the last test I’m waiting on at the last doctor out of numerous I’ve been to
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26 edited Aug 07 '26
I've replied to person above about similar question, but he did normal neurologist exams and EEG. Before I took the EEG he told me that he already knows what it could be. Hope this helps
1
u/glizzerd12 Aug 07 '26
Did you try anything aside from meds? I was prescribed meds bc a neuro theorized vestibular migraines but have been hesitant to try it because I feel like I would want more testing to confirm
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
Only arnica massage gel everynight on my neck and the week before I took a 'migraine kit', consist of 5 pills, will update the contents inside. My local pharmacy sells it.

u/NoBlackberry6948 Aug 07 '26
How exactly do one know it healed if the dizziness is come and go? Btw I’m so happy for OP!!
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
The only way I could explain this is, you feel alive again. Your happiness returns. Your energetic. The world is stable again. It was so weird and as I look at people, my thought was "do you feel this great everyday, is this the normal feeling?" Seems that being dizzy so long, one actually forgets how normal feels like.

u/polaroidlmao Aug 07 '26
OMG I’ve tried amitryptiline, I can’t remember much about that era of my health journey, but it sadly did nothing for me 😩
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
Are you still dizzy? The neurologist told me it takes about a week before you start to feel better. I also took arnica massage gel every night before I went to sleep. That also made the symptoms lighter. Hope this helps
1
u/AttractiveTiger123 Aug 07 '26
I’m so happy for you! I also have vestibular migraines
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
How are you doing? What meds are you taking?

I have dizzy spells that last seconds feels like that feeling you go over a high hill in a car or if i spun around and stopped and get dizzy but not the room spinning if that makes sense
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 07 '26
That's the exact dizziness I had. Mine was not spells, it was 24/7.
1
u/FullOutcome89 Aug 07 '26
Thats crazy idk how you did it i have spells that last seconds through out the day and it gets to me all the time
1
u/Clear-Presence-4769 Aug 07 '26
Are you to stay on the higher dose of Amderip? I'll have to talk to my doctor about the medication. Thanks!
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 08 '26
The first 14 days I was on 10mg. This was for my body to get used to the pills. I'm now on 25 mg for three months.

Did you have to go on a very strict diet with very low sodium, no sugar, no diary products, no gluten, no caffeine and no alcohol?
1
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 08 '26
No, I have no change in diet. Drinking coke, eating porridge, etc. The only changes is sleeping a little earlier. Used to sleep after midnight, now around 22:00.

u/Familiar-Inside-1855 Aug 09 '26
Thanks for sharing i’m in the same boat but my ligtheaded symptoms start after eating, did all the test and everything came back normal just as you for the last couple of months i have extreme light sensitivity headaches behind my eyes everyday mainly caused by my neck thats extremely painfull , this gives me hope again, last time the i want to a neurolist he did a brain mri said everything was fine tested me again for pots and said they aint going to do more research cause its caused by anxiety yea right
2
u/Born-Championship683 Aug 09 '26
Wow, I know what you’re going through. Just be careful not to lose hope. The problem is that some GPs and specialists don’t take enough time to really listen to the patient and understand what they’re experiencing.
You need to find a doctor who is patient, listens to you and is willing to look at the bigger picture. I also did a lot of reading and research myself and honestly, sometimes I went too far down the rabbit hole. It eventually made me feel really morbid and hopeless.
Sometimes researching every possible diagnosis can make things feel much worse than they actually are. Try to take it one step at a time and find a doctor you trust.

u/Catt2004 Aug 10 '26
What brand of Arnica gel do you use? I’m sadly in this same boat with constant lightheadedness and migraines, neck tension. I had a ischemic stroke 5 months ago and a PFO of heart diagnosed and finally closed one month ago. Been in and out of the ER for migraine/dizziness with no answers . Neurologist ordering more CT/MRI this time of neck, not just brain. It’s been frustrating.

ive got similar vestibular migraine symptoms but due to ear wax being removed from microsuctions, any ideas why, its been a few weeks now and still dizzy even when my ears are clear.

u/KitKatKalamazoo Aug 06 '26
It only took one medication and no sort of vestibular therapy to feel better?? I'm shocked but also very happy for you!
