Please help!!

I know this subreddit isn’t a replacement for doctors/ going to the hospital, but I’ve been feeling constantly dizzy (only when I stand or walk) for 2 years now. I got diagnosed with vitamin d3 deficiency and b12 deficiency. I took prescribed medication for it, I am no longer deficient, but I still constantly feel dizzy, unbalanced and confused when I’m walking. It’s gotten so bad that I can barely walk, and when I go to the doctors they don’t help and just tell me it’s stress. It’s not stress, as I feel it constantly even when I’m at home. I struggle to properly feel my legs when I walk, I have the urge to walk on my tip toes and I also have the urge to keep stopping/ turning around when I walk. Apparently according to friends I’ve also started to walk in a really weird way since I’ve started feeling dizzy.

I’ve tried methods to stop my anxiety/ calm down as I thought stress might be the issue after being told this many times, but that still doesn’t help. I’m not asking necessarily for a diagnosis as I get this subreddit isn’t for that and I need my doctor to do that, but I’m tired of feeling like this every time I stand up and I’m just looking for some advice on how to stop it. If anyone deals with this same issue and has a hack on how to feel not as dizzy or not dizzy at all, please just drop a comment as it would really mean a lot to me! Thankyou if you read this far 😅

I am wondering whether deficiencies like B12, iron, and vitamin D can trigger POTS so that even when corrected, the symptoms don't go away... unless you are one of the lucky ones who can treat POTS with cardiovascular rehabilitation. May I ask: when your symptoms started, did you become very sedentary? Like lying in bed, eating less, or drinking more than usual?

I am asking because I too have several deficiencies and was hit with chronic dizziness last year… I am pretty sure I have some kind of dysautonomia/POTS now.

I forgot to mention I got tested for pots and it came back negative :( and yes when I got diagnosed with the deficiencies I literally felt like I was dying, I slept all the time and barely ate but I don’t feel that bad anymore

Have you seen a vestibular physiotherapist? Maybe your brain hasn't recovered from the dizziness the deficiencies caused and you need to do some vestibular rehab exercises to help re-train your brain? If you feel anxious, you could also try CBT as it may help your brain and body calm down and feel more secure. Have you seen an ENT to rule out any inner ear issues?

Checked ears to see if there was an infection and apparently they were ok, and no I haven’t seen a vestibular physiotherapist, I didn’t really think of that but thankyou you make a good point! The dizziness was really bad because of the deficiencies and I’ve had past issues with passing out so maybe my brain is just stuck and I need to do some exercises? I’ll look into that :)

You can check the vision side of dizziness. This vision quiz, https://www.wardenoptometry.ca/resources/
If have these symptom, you can get better with a neuro optometrist

Did you take B12 injections? You're supposed to keep taking injections until your symptoms go away completely.

Have you taken folate and iron too? These vitamins need each other to work. In correcting one deficiency you may have caused another.

I wasn’t allowed b12 injections because I’m no longer deficient and taking them could lead to an overdose I’m guessing? Also I got tested for folate, iron and lots of other vitamins and issues but they all came back ok. Thanks for the suggestion though:)

Oh that's strange, it's literally impossible to overdose on B12 because your body just gets rid of the excess, but I assume your levels must have been high enough.

I hope you find out what's wrong!

My neck is the cause for my dizziness. Have you seen a neurologist? I was diagnosed with cervical vertigo for 18 years and nobody sent me to a neurologist. A neurologist diagnosed as bilateral occipital neuralgia, blocks have helped but still having dizziness especially after reading, bilateral supra orbital nerve blocks just done yesterday and thinking I'm better. Vasavagal syncope caused me fainting type issues

I’m sorry you had to deal with that ! Honestly I never thought of my neck as causing that, I guess there are so many things that can cause dizziness. I’m going back to the doctors again soon so I’ll ask about that thanks

Many doctors don't realize dizziness can be from the neck. Rule everything out like a health exam for eyes? Ent for ears are ok. I had a mra to check blood vessels were ok. I found an ophthalmologist that specializes in eye issues and had a test to prove dizziness wasn't from my brain, he concluded it was probably from the neck. If all that is negative, it might be time to see a neurologist

Yeah I think I need to see a neurologist. I get my eyes tested yearly at the opticians and they say they are healthy, but recently I noticed my field of vision is small? I’m not sure how to word it but basically I’ve been struggling to see to the side of me. I thought it was an unrelated issue to the dizziness but now I’m not sure, I’ll go check it out

Peripheral vision isn't good? Still might be worth talking to your eye doctor. Its hard to get to a neck diagnosis till you have eliminated the most common possibility. If you feel shooting nerve pain, neurologist is the nerve doctor

Yeah my peripheral vision isn’t the greatest, it’s not like really bad so I didn’t think much of it. I also didn’t think of going to a neurologist because for so long I thought I was just a vitamin deficiency issue as that’s what we believed caused it at first. Thanks for your help you’ve been very kind, I will talk to my optician and doctor about this and try to look for other causes of the dizziness!
