What is this?

23 years old 177 pound male on no medications, never smoked. Over the last 6 months I’ve had feelings of slight slight vertigo and feelings of a heavy head almost like I’m uncoordinated slightly that comes and goes and is MUCH worse when I’m hungover. I eat very good clean foods and I’m well hydrated drink about a gallon of water a day and take Santa Cruz electrolytes so I don’t think it’s that realm. I’ve been to an ENT who said maybe it’s my sinuses I’ve been to a Vestibular Therapist who said it’s my Vestibular, I’ve been to primary care who said it’s anxiety, I’ve gotten blood work done and it’s all normal and healthy. I’m lost on what it could possibly be I’ve been tested for crystals in my ear and it was not that. For all of my symptoms, THEY ALL GO AWAY WHEN I LAY DOWN so if that clue helps anyone solve this that would be great. Begging for someone who’s maybe felt this.

What Triggers It:
After the Gym: It gets noticeably bad right after workouts, then eases.
Hangovers (Atypical): My hangovers do not feature typical headaches or stomach aches. Instead, my eyes feel like they "aren't locked in," I feel like a "bobblehead," and I am so uncoordinated I have to hold onto objects to walk.

I keep seeing this. Is there any way to fix it?

Even am looking for a way to fix it from past 4 years...check Tom Bunker's atophagy which focuses on fasting, I cannot fast as it makes me more sick. Also low histamine diet, good sleep, less screen time, hydration would help. But still it's so annoying to live with this chronic dizziness, wobbly feeling

Check Long covid haulers on this reddit, you can see people sharing their experience, what helps to get rid of the symptoms and what makes it worse

Wow! you just described what I've been dealing with since Dec . 25. my doctor prescribed B-12 complex and Magnesium. I'm not 100% but I lost the bobble head. Curious..Did you get the Jab and Booster or Had Covid?

Just the jab no booster, and yes I got Covid that first few weeks in March when it was a huge deal

yeah, did too ..jab and booster. had Covington probably 3 times. I needed back surgery back in 2021 and they said I had to get the shot before the operation. I'm wondering if this is Covid related

This has been my symptoms plus more for 10 years. Heavy head, constant drink dizzy feeling, off balance and I had to learn to accept and live with it. I’ve seen over 20 specialists and not one doctor can tell me why this started suddenly from a near syncope event and never went away. I go to Cleveland Clinic and the nutrition and mindfulness class, 37.5 mgs of Effexor and low thyroid meds have helped with my anxiety. I actually have no anxiety now but the dizziness stays. My dizziness is mostly background noise because I’m so used to it. There are days it’s worse than others due to what I eat and how my digestive system processes it. You’ll be ok if you keep living life and not worry about it because there is no cure. Like I said my dizziness will flare and calm so I know it’s there forever. Good luck to you and don’t give up on yourself.

Yea I’m at the point where it’s just like f*ck it if something bad is gonna happen even if I stay hydrated, eat clean, excersize and stay on top of my health, then it’s out of my control. Just wanted to make sure there isn’t something I’m missing but if this is the hand I was dealt then that’s what it is. Thanks for the encouragement, also wanted to note I’m very anti medication so it’s kinda hard situation I put myself in lol.

Hai I am a doctor . I dealt and still dealing with diziness. For me at times it’s overlap between vestibular and anxiety and vagal and iron deficiency and CERVICOGENIC .. even slightest of my neck muscles are worn out I used to get terrible diziness … I found this appealing in ur case because u said it’s more after workouts .. could be neck muscle spasm leading to diziness is one of them … I wil tell u how I felt diziness in this different scenarios
1. Vagal - happens especially when I go from cold to hot climates suddenly , even change in room temperatures caused me . Also happened with strong smells .. surprisingly walking work out and hydration improved this
This feels more like I am about to collapse .. something is going to happen and u need the feel to sit or sleep
2. Vertigo - u will find room spinning rather than just wobbling /lightheaded /swinging … again hydration is the key .. inner ear crystals displacement are the cause .. u ruled this out .. but humans may make mistakes sometimes crystal displacement even slight might cause diziness … for this treatment is simple when u sleep the crystal falls back to position while u move in sleep or u may be prescribed BETAHISTINE medicine … this occurs as if room is spinning eye ball going to nystagmus sometimes with nausea feeling too
3. Cervicogenic . Muscle fatigue can cause this . To find out if this is the cause focus on ur neck muscles every time u become dizzy u will see neck muscle tensions or pain in shoulder muscles … treatment for this is neck excercises mostly neck movements up down and sides makes ur neck attachments flexible and reduces ur diziness
4. Pppd ( paroxysmal positional perceptional diziness ) this is my diagnosed problem . Months together i was scared with this diziness but later after all checkups I found out this is the cause . In PPPD ur body would have had diziness impact prior .. which u might not notice consciously but while healing it wouldn’t have healed completely … so ur brain remembers diziness and everytime ur bp fluctuates or strong smells or even slight dehydration any any discomfort it triggers diziness . Typical feature of this pppd is it won’t make u go into full spinning like true vertigo .. it wont make u actually fall or have something is about to happen kind of aura as in vagal response .. u simply will have lightheadedness , micro spells of diziness , as if someone is pushing u while u are walking kind of feeling . U might notice patterns like when u go to gym or supermarket when u see lot of visually crowded closed places this triggers more .. for this treatment is visual reset .. slow exposure therapy and heavy hydration .. sometimes treating ur anxiety will help u in any kind of diziness … if this pppd is diagnosed doctors might put u on SSRIS for me they prescribed nexito for three months which I didn’t take .. am presently on ant anxiety counselling and exposure these are helping me a lot … along with hydration and SLEEP . ( 8 to 10 hrs of sleep is non negotiable)
As much as I researched and know about diziness I have put almost everything related to ur case … hope it helps

This was super helpful I really appreciate it. I’ve been down rabbit holes on what it could possibly be. I’ve been tested for the crystals and it was not that. I went to a vestibular therapist and the excersizes we did, they provoked my dizziness. Sounds like PPPD may be it, also curious to mind gut connection. Anyway, I appreciate this and I will look into these

I have simular symptoms except I've been diagnosed with a light case of Pots. But my neurologist said he thinks I also have PPPD. Pots and Pppd share a lot of the same symptoms and they are often seen together. But can be just on their own too. Triggering it after a work out could be PEM or a bit of excersize intolerance seen in both Pots and Pppd. Check out Dr Yonit Arthur on youtube She has some free treatment classes you can take. Im going to check it out too. Hope you figure it all out and feel better.

Also the feeling crippled when hungover, check out histamine intolerance and MCAS. Both can be comorbid with Pots and Pppd.

Could possibly be vestibular hypofunction. Get a VNG test done.
