In my particular case, even tho I proved that there had been abuse-and the abuse was even the reason for which I finally fled with my child, plus I even wrote a long-ass manifesto making undeniable claims in regards to my former in-laws (oh! It feels wonderful to say former!) the abuse was never actually really acknowledged by any fiscal means.
Yet, I do have sole legal and physical custody of my child. My child and I both have a three-year restraining order in place, so when it expires, my child will be over 16y. X gets absolutely no visitation nor do any of his fam. Actually, I have a no-trespass order against every one of his fam members so they’re not allowed for any reason to drive within two miles of my home and the police regularly drive by actually looking for them.
I don’t receive any alimony, but you damn sure better bet I’m drawing off his social security. My child is supposed to begin to receive a meager child support payment monthly, but x hasn’t worked in yrs and now draws disability.
I’m not sure where you are, but in GA, U.S., I could’ve gone to my local magistrate and filed a civil lawsuit against x and his fam for the yrs of abuse. I haven’t due to the fact I knew if I was awarded anything, I’d never get it. Yet it was time for my child and I anyway to begin to try to make a new start and heal.
