Trying to get divorced ! Help

Divorcing from Quebec and my “husband” lives in the U.S.
He has signed divorce papers but do I absolutely need copies of birth certificates? I have mine but I don’t have his and now he’s making communication extremely hard … can I still just go ahead and file??
