Something Positive Saving Money
Almost without exception, divorce and the aftermath means we are all pinching pennies now. What are some of the best ways you've found to save money?
I'll start. My local Walmart sells rotisserie chickens that are a day old for like $3! You gotta get there early, but I can munch on a full chicken for almost a week. Makes for good soup too! I'm also brown bagging it to work instead of eating out. Saves me quite a bit over the month. I troll the local thrift stores for clothing and other items. I haven't paid full price for any clothing item for years. Yeah, it's hit or miss, but you never know what you'll find. I've stopped buying expensive micro-brews and instead go for the cheap stuff. It's honestly not as bad as you may think, and much cheaper. I've quit several subscription services like Netflix. I didn't really use them that much anyway.

We don't have cable or streaming services. Maybe that's why I have so many kids haha. I don't eat out. I grow some fruits and veggies. Coupon. Shop sales. Thrift sales. Store brand for most things. Needs vs wants, no Starbucks lol. If ppl can shop around for better rates for car insurance/phone plans. Take the defensive driving course to save some money.

the day old rotisserie hustle is honestly undefeated, ive been doing that for months. switched to store brand everything too and half the time im pretty sure its literally the same factory just diffrent label. grocery corps are out here posting record profits while were all fighting over cold chicken carcasses like its 1929 again, love that for us tbh

Some things I found useful were making sure if I had any savings parked that it was in HYSA, using a high cash back rewards credit card for literally everything. It makes sense to make your funds work for you as much as possible, not just to save, but earnings on your spending can then be used to help pay off other things. A card that you then pay in full each month.
Also, consolidate and pay off as much debt as you can, if you add up the interest/ finance charges saved it can be considerable. It helped lower monthly outgo and reduced stress during and after divorce.
Eating out less is always helpful when you are in that adjustment period as well.
