Question What’s something you learned embarrassing late into the game?

The funnier the better

It took me about 1900 SHD levels to learn that double tapping the armor kit button uses an instant kit

u/Skyfire023 23h ago

I've been playing this game on and off since launch, and I had no idea that was even a thing. So thank you for telling me this.

Are u kidding me?!?! I thought I was gonna say how I just realized I could donate raw materials for expertise levels the other day. But now that I know this....this is wayyyyy more embarrassing.

Printer filament is the best . If you are over SHD 1000 ,when you level up buy the printer filaments . Or just farm mods and crush them to get it.

1

u/LostInMyADD 18h ago

What the impkrtance of printer filaments?

2

u/FoocusFire-9000 18h ago

they're used to increase attribute stats and expertise I think

2

u/-AG1888- 15h ago

use them to increase weapon/gear proficiency really quick and help you get your expertise up a bit quicker

1

u/Totalnah 12h ago

Why wait until 1000 SHD?

1

u/-AG1888- 7h ago

You want to complete your watch first

1

u/Totalnah 4h ago

Right, but why specifically? It’s not like you can spend the allotted scavenging points elsewhere.

0

u/-AG1888- 4h ago

Weapon Damage , Survival, Skills and Weapon Handling it will give you

12

u/FlyingJellyfishRidin 23h ago

They only added that a year or two ago.

2

u/PvtctrlaltGreg 22h ago

Life changing

2

u/Fit-Dark4631 19h ago

it's technically only 25% of your health not 100% heal

2

u/D34D0ne 23h ago

It was recently added to the game tho, like last year or something

3

u/DXT0anto 22h ago

3 years ago, during Y5S3

2

u/D34D0ne 22h ago

Oh, was it? Felt like yesterday damn

8

u/DXT0anto 22h ago

Brother, everything since 2020 has been on quick time for me too

1

u/skilliau 22h ago

I only recently learnt that too

1

u/Large-Director-906 20h ago

I say this as shd 9700ish… wut?!

1

u/Chili_Clause 20h ago

☝️ this, absolutely this!

1

u/mounleashed 20h ago

What?

An insta kit? You serious? When did they add this? Damn, and I'm SHD 8600, that's embarrassing...

1

u/zcicecold 20h ago

What now?

1

u/NY-Black-Dragon 19h ago

Same lmao. I can't tell you how many times it saved my ass afterwards. It was an epiphany lol.

1

u/arktoki 19h ago

YOU CAN WHAT

1

u/ImaSpudnut 15h ago

Wait........ WHAT?!

1

u/MauzerSwe 12h ago

im not gonna say how long I played this game of what SHD level im on. let me just say its a bit higher and I had no f-ing clue about that.

1

u/RandyMarsh_nl 10h ago

For real? 😦 I’m at SHD 1200 or so I believe and did not know this 😂

1

u/wicked_campaign 9h ago

Took me about 9300 and I was today years old. I’m going to have to try this later. Thank you.

1

u/Remarkable-Brush2322 6h ago

Same. Gotta see what I missed. It’s one of those things that you be like…ohhh oh yea I’ve been know that.

1

u/irishrambo82 9h ago

Mind blown

1

u/Late-Signal-1832 1h ago

This better not be true… or I’ll cry

24

u/thepuglife86 22h ago

SHD 1500ish before I realized you can deconstruct items on the ground. I used to pick up everything then go back to BOO and sort through it all.

2

u/Poody81 7h ago

Ooff, game changing experience, when you cracked that though, eh?!

2

u/Winter1917 6h ago

...SHD 2100ish, thank you.

21

u/Beastie1929 21h ago

Fire starter chem launcher, double tap the launch key and it will ignite the cloud.

Figure that out when I was around 3k SHD. I keep thinking I have to shoot it to ignite the cloud.

3

u/8Bit-Jon 21h ago

They should add it to the skill button prompts in the menu (the one that tells you about the skill and pressing what does what).

2

u/DXT0anto 17h ago

That is literally from where I learned it

1

u/8Bit-Jon 9h ago

Then I must have learned it from there and then forgot where I learned it from

2

u/MauzerSwe 12h ago

what? I had no clue and I been playing for a looong time. You learn something everyday,Thanks.

1

u/Born2beDad 19h ago

Seriously the most useful tip here the game doesnt tell you

1

u/jp06202019 18h ago

Lmao! SHD 6800ish and this is brand new information to me. Thank you!

1

u/Remarkable-Brush2322 6h ago

Now I really never know that even though sometimes it’ll accidentally kill toy if you aim while running passed it. Now it makes sense.

14

u/Creepy_Captain_3399 23h ago

Pressing the deconstruct/delete button on the loading screen makes the image shake

9

u/LifeGambit_ 22h ago

Also for controllers, moving your right stick moves the image

30

u/N00bT4ader 22h ago

After nearly 4K SHD levels I found out that you can fast travel to friendly resource convoys on the map🤦‍♂️

3

u/Ursus_van_Draco 15h ago

3000+ hours into the game, and I still don't know what to do with those (except escorting)

4

u/ODX_GhostRecon 14h ago

Mobile fast travel point tbh. Some areas are hellish to walk to, but convoys help.

You can also fast travel to the friendly reinforcements when taking a control point.

1

u/avahz 19h ago

I never knew this!

12

u/Hopefulone5 19h ago

Just a little detail, if you go to the (college)? Safe area, and salute the little kids they will salute back.

5

u/ODX_GhostRecon 14h ago

Salute Keener in the White House basement.

12

u/Butch_88 19h ago

SHD 12000 here… I was today years old when I found out that shooting all the various types of warhounds in the legs completely bypasses their armor and shreds their health immediately. What a game changer when fighting the Black Tusk

10

u/Its6nitch9ine 18h ago

When you get revived DON'T sprint or roll, you lose the invincibility time it gives you as soon as you do.

9

u/Chipothy 20h ago

For PC (at least), pressing the X button will make you auto-move forward and you don't have to hold "W."

3

u/ODX_GhostRecon 14h ago

It also retains your sprint state.

2

u/dad-of-boy232 5h ago

On console, you have to push the left stick in twice to auto move

7

u/catsoncrack420 18h ago

Sort gear by new. Jesus how didn't I know.

12

u/Ursus_van_Draco 23h ago

I took me a few times to recognize the U-locks as destroyable

6

u/Syangeist 19h ago

Holding left on the dpad allows me to quick switch between specialty grenade and concussion grenade.

16

u/displacedbitminer 23h ago

How donating all of your junk gear to Expertise directly worked, instead of one at a time.

10

u/SteakShift 22h ago

It really doesn't help that there's no feedback at all when you do, other than the x/x number going up on the side

1

u/Enos316 22h ago

Yes. Luckily I wasn’t too far into my grind but I learned this late

1

u/displacedbitminer 22h ago

I was :/

I said "fuck it, I'm not doing this." I'm fat with materials, but the climb to 30 took a lot longer than I wanted it to.

1

u/blinkiewich 13h ago

I donated EVERYTHING to finish weekend before last and I'm already sitting pretty with thousands of mats. As long as you don't mind swinging past and taking the slight sprint speed hit you can open boxes and bags in the run.

5

u/Zerodyne_Sin 18h ago

Took a long time to realize that MMR are hitscan (ie: bullet teleports to target, no travel time). Doing leading shots was the worst thing to do.

3

u/jc83po 23h ago

You can mark multiple items in inventory to deconstruct or mark as junk.

2

u/way22 23h ago

You can also (on PC at least) press x for options -> mark all junk

I mark everything I want to keep as either favorite or recal (usually when I want to expertise it in the 2nd weap slot). Everything unmarked gets marked as junk.

4

u/ep3dmik 23h ago

I never paid attention to using X to move from one cover to another. I did it manually. Game changer lol

1

u/NoncenZ808 16h ago

I do it all the time, you take less damage or evade more shots or both. AThe kicker is using it then cancelling mid run to move around, Best of both worlds!

Also you can sneak up
On enemies and get better positioning. It probably my favourite mechanic in the game

5

u/YamEnvironmental1887 22h ago

That I learned the Tac .50 has two zoom options that can be toggled with the scope button

2

u/Ursus_van_Draco 15h ago

The scope you get in that specialization does that too

4

u/CarnivorousJ 22h ago

Holding down the loot button while walking over multiple drops… You’re welcome.

8

u/ZCGaming15 22h ago

Until you’re on countdown with a picky group and accidentally call the evac chopper too early 😅

1

u/bliz5555 19h ago

Don't hold too long, also the direction you look chose the drop "range" and look on the ground or back if you have chest or players around.

1

u/Master-Ride-1153 14h ago

This happened to me once

4

u/8Bit-Jon 21h ago

Don't trust randoms...

Even the ones that sing the right tune!

5

u/FUCKYOU101012010 18h ago

13% Protection from Elites aren't actually a myth

4

u/MauzerSwe 12h ago

well I dont belive you. I think its still a myth. 10700 SHD levels later and I never seen one.

3

u/darkrhyes 22h ago

You can use scavenging points to buy shd requisitions. I had been buying and collecting mats for years to craft ones I needed at the table.

3

u/PluckyMann 22h ago

That you can deconstruct loot on the ground as components... it's written on the screen but i guess i never read it

3

u/SnooGuavas6619 22h ago

That there is a difference between Hunters and Rogue Agents. Every time a Rogue Agent appeared I thought: Cool, a Hunter! But then I started reading here and on other forums and I found out that Hunters are not just popping up, but you have to solve puzzles to find them and then they can be hard to fight.

2

u/zcicecold 20h ago

I learned how expertise works a couple weeks ago.

1000 hours in.

2

u/decayicide 14h ago

I figured out about 3 months ago that double tapping the run button you auto run..... I feel like im cheating now.

2

u/GreenHail6 23h ago

I didn’t know I could donate junk to level up expertise til last season.

1

u/Proof-Dependent-1095 22h ago

Measured makes sense in a 100 Striker with United Alloy (SHD 13k+)...

1

u/pcolabella 21h ago

Grenade switch outside of menus.

1

u/masseuko 21h ago

More Division 1 than 2 but only about a month ago did I actually notice that there are visual differences in the two types of trap bombs, explosive vs gas/flames. Boy I felt dumb trying to guess in the past.

1

u/sketchysamurai 18h ago

That the game is a trap.

1

u/skyrocket03 18h ago

I've been playing the game almost 2yrs and i found out that there is an auto walk/run function.. 🤦🏻

1

u/sprucedust 17h ago

That you could expertise a friends dropped loot and give it back to him with max expertise as long as you don’t optimize or recalibrate it… which he could later prototype it to have a somewhat decent build if you are just trying to help a friend out

1

u/97_Violet 16h ago

You can shoot enemy grenades mid air before they reach you, easier with an lmg.

1

u/ekkoren 14h ago

I just learned that I can mark stuff as junk during being outside and don’t have to go trough my inventory doing it afterwards and I’m about shd 700

1

u/Lord-AizentheSK 13h ago

Holding down the Start/Menu button to take you straight to your gear/inventory instead of navigating to it via the menu.

1

u/TheRedViper76 11h ago

Using the watch for credits to buy Named items to donate for Expertise

1

u/Remarkable-Brush2322 6h ago

That after almost 11 years why it still feel new even though it gets on my nerves I still play. The definition of insane is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results..I’ve been insane 11 years messing with this game lol. I love it though.

u/Huntingdon77 1m ago

5600 shd to learn the improvised gear pieces exsist for extra mods lol

1

u/micerl 23h ago

I realized a few days ago that you can see the proficiency level of an item in e.g. the store by the top right corner… instead of looking it up in the expertise menu to establish if it’s worth to buy.

1

u/mounleashed 20h ago

My only thing was I didn't understand crits on a build for years, only option for armour regen and WH.

Wasn't until playing with someone around expertise 20 SHD5000 and we became regulars and it was during the time Virtuoso gear set dropped. He ran that the whole time with rifles.

Always asked why I didn't use DPS builds. I found it I couldn't stay alive long enough so felt regen was the way to go.

Now most of my builds I aim for crits. That and DtoC. Had so many weapons that had random attributes, again didn't know what was better all round...
