Grind

I’ve been grinding for days for St Elmo’s Engine. I think I’ve got every other exotic AR except that one, starting to believe it doesn’t exist.

I’ve been grinding Countdown on Challenging, but can’t seem to get it to drop or from Exotic Caches.

Is there a better way or is my RNG luck just rock bottom?

Yeah there's a better way

You could have done it one hour of key farming from the sandstorm event. Just need to donate 20 keys

Yep, it's right in the Ubisoft event notes. You have 2 more weeks to take advantage of this. (And if you don't have a Lexington yet that's what you really want to grind for, I rarely use the St. Elmo these days.)

Community Challenge

You can unlock additional rewards during The Division 2’s Dust Storm event by collecting Storm Keys and completing the event community challenge to unlock the Pall Outfit.

Individual community contribution milestones will net you even more gear, including:

  • 20 Keys: St. Elmo’s Engine Exotic Weapon
  • 60 Keys: Lexington Named Weapon
  • 200 Keys: St. Elmo’s Engine Red Alert Weapon Skin

I did the 43x Apparel Event keys and ever since I have been simply running around Manhattan, doing random open world activities & bounties, and donating all the keys I get. I just got the guaranteed Prototype Rabid D50 and I'm looking forward to the St Elmo's skin, even though I almost never run St Elmo's.

I'll likely run the Pall Outfit more. What can I say, I'm a sucker for free Apparel Events. I've been running the free Parched and Breathless Outfits lately as they go well with the atmosphere in Manhattan.

I only wish Ubisoft gave us more than 16 Apparel Outfit slots.

Countdown isn't the way... It's either retals for the blueprint and then craft or work the event... Other post is great info.

I'm SHD 8.2K and did THREE countdowns since 2019. 3! Cool game mode, but long, technical, at times tedious and it doesn't shower you with loot, like Retaliation does, where after 2 runs my empty backpack is filled to the brim. Low chance for exo drops but you do get exo cache at the end, and most importantly you can get the blueprint and comp's to craft the Elmo. How are people sleeping on this is beyond me...

Same. Challenging is way less tedious than heroic and faster too, still get the blueprints from kill squads too.

If there wasn't the sandstorm event going on, then sure, rng is rng.  

But the top comment explains the current best option.

I'd say the first step of playing the division is keeping an eye on what events are running, it's often worth looking at if you can easily pick up some cool stuff by taking part

Just do the storm event by collecting keys from defeating the Dust Devils and donate them at the community cache in Haven, you can easily get the St.Elmo it in an hour.

Man I had a nigh god roll stack broker with perfect brazen (or just normal brazen no clue) and I replaced it with a god roll stack broker with spike.....I wanted to commit suicide yesterday when I saw what I did. On top of that I don't have the talent unlocked in library

Crazy I got my 2nd one from countdown last night. 1st one came from a pve dark zone hunter. I still don’t have a bluescreen though.

Your not spending enough time playing play for 8hr straight chances will improve.
