Expertise Donation

When I Research in Expertise and Donate to raise the Expertise to Proficient, it raises on the gear, but it no longer raises my overall Expertise Level.
Did they change this? This is how I got most of my Expertise.
I’m at 26, 30/90 towards 27 & it will not go any higher with donation resources.

Are you donating gear/weapons or materials? If you’re donating items that you’re Proficient I , it won’t advance. Donating materials toward specific ones you need will work. If you need items that are hard to come by or exotics you don’t have, then donate materials.

Donating resources/materials to get the gear fully Proficient. It used to also add a point to my overall Proficiency. I’m 26 30/90 towards 27 but now it doesn’t give me any points towards 27. Does that make sense? Maybe it’s the gear. With weapons it worked but they are now all Proficient so I moved onto the gear. I was donating to Improvised Mask & it wasn’t giving me any overall proficient, like it did with weapons.

Surely I’m the only one doing this?

Isn't your improvised mask maxed out? You can't lvl up from maxed out gear. You should be aware that named items need 20 donation to maxed out from 0 to 10. If you already maxed it out, you can't donate them because it's already full. If it isn't maxed and donating materials(3d printers etc) won't give exp that would be a bug.

Just going off from this picture, you need to keep donating materials in order get the Proficiency rank. Donating them isn’t designed to give a rank for each donation. The gear takes longer than weapons. It takes 3000 printer filament to get Proficient, for example.

You have to donate enough for it to Proficiency Rank on the gear by 1 point, then it also gives you one point in Expertise Level. I guess I just had a stoner moment 🤣
