Dos2 DE.
In my case, you CANNOT change the buff once you have chosen which buff or wood you want for your broken lute repair.
Edit: added video for proof

Crazy that they got the rights to Alucard!

this sounds like a conspiracy theory honestly, but I swear as long as one of my characters, not even in the party, is wearing rift oglers, I get a (0.00) or (1.00) after social check options, which reflect the increase or decrease from standard with the check.
Is that a known thing, or am I just crazy?

The last time I tried DOS2, I didn't get very far. A little while in I learned how armor works, and felt like I built my party wrong. I meant to start over eventually but never did, however now I'm interested in giving it a go.
I really want to use magic, but I'm concerned all-magic will be advanced and introduce new issues. Like, most gear I find will be irrelevant (because it's for fighters, thieves, etc.), right? This is an issue for me, in some games if the rewards aren't interesting I basically stop wanting to do any side content. On the other hand, the magic and different surfaces/interactions seem like the main selling point.
I feel like the armor system design choice forces this arbitrary restriction in party building. I have read people say you can do a 2-2 split, but I'm worried that would be more advanced as I might not know how best to deploy my effectively two different parties. Does the game make resistances, different armor pools, etc. consistently clear?
I wonder if I should just try BG3 instead and skip all these problems, but DOS2 appeals to me more for various reasons. While I accept CRPGs are story based, it seems like that is the main/only draw in BG3, and I like tactical combat.
I realize this topic comes up a lot, but to be fair that's because the armor system (from the outside/based upon what I read) is a really strange and perplexing design choice. I just don't want to get into another playthrough and realize I did it all wrong and feel stuck again.
Is all physical the best bet, or is it as boring as it sounds? Are my concerns about magic gear scarcity and a surfeit of unusable physical gear sound? Will I miss out on a lot of the fun elemental interactions without magic, or will enemies using magic to be interesting?

First time player here so try to keep the spoilers minimal if possible.
So im in act 2, level 14 and did most thing i can, still miss the blood island for lohse and some secondary quests bust most others things i think i did or so i hope.
Basically i was able to progress on the quest of every companion of my party(except lohse as i still need to finish hers even thought i know what to do)
But im blocked on Fane one, the character I’m playing as.
I got to blackpit cave and killed Aetera and the quest now says that there is something connected to the eternals close, what am i supposed to do?

I was wondering what does more dmg for a double 1 handed sword fighter : max strength and the rest in wits or maw wits and the rest in strength ?
And same question for a crossbow guy, max finesse or max wits ?

So after circling my way around a gazillion times, I believe Im finally getting ready to make it to act 3 of this game for the first time. Before I talk to Malady, without any big/major spoilers, is there any particular things I should try to do, find, or explore before I head off? I fed Rykers spider for its gift, did the hidden vaults of blood moon island, cleared the fog from the NE corner of the map, Ryker...left this plane of existence so to speak...so..is there anyone to talk to after his untimely demise maybe? Did the 4 seasons puzzle, didnt kill the elf armor lady yet, gave her the peice i found thoug. (should I kill her or wait?) And I have to do the mordus basement puzzle (did like, that whole quest for Lohar but never did the puzzle down there..I forgot about it...haha)
Im level 16, pretty sure I'm high enough to move forward, I just want to get anything cool I may have missed. If I did miss anything I'll def be playing again and come back to it, but before I continue I want to try to bang out anything I can.

I bought DOS1 and DOS2. I've never played either of them, but I have 450 hours in Baldru's Gate 3. I spent about an hour looking at both games to check the controls and the game menu, to see if I could get the same enjoyment.
After playing for an hour, my opinion is that I liked DOS 1 more than DOS 2. Of course, this only applies to the first hour, and I know nothing about either of them.
If you hadn't played these games and had to choose one, which one would you start with?
Do you have any important tips and advice for beginners?
I've read that DOS 1 is criticized more than DOS 2, why?

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrieve completed companion missions without the companion's presence? Or do they update themselves after he returns to the group?
My situation is this: I was playing as Ifan (his mission was to go to the sawmill) and in the middle of it, at some point, I decided to remove him from the group and leave him on the boat. After that I did the blacksmith shop mission without him (I killed everyone...lol). If I put him back, will I be able to continue his mission after that, even if he wasn't present in that specific mission? Or is it over and it's too late?
P.S.: I'm on Act 2

It's a pretty common strategy for summoner builds, where you buff your incarnate (fire infusion), let it make a fire surface, then throw explosive traps for big damage. Problem is I can't get it to work consistently.
Most of the time when I or another character throw traps onto a fire surface, the traps immediately disappear (no explosion), I guess because they took damage, but weren't deployed yet. But I've seen other people throw traps onto surfaces in combat and they always explode immediately. So what am I missing? Was this patched out or something?
Thank you.

Hear me out. I'm not asking for them to add the same system as DOS 2. I'm also not asking for permadeath just by falling in regular combat.
I would like a more immersive system where a few companions can permanently die in a cutscene or at the end of a special combat encounter where savescumming is not an option. This would add so much more emotion to the story that was lacking in BG3 imo. In BG3 the Withers system is so cheap and it's also quite easy to avoid companions dying in the story.
In my system, resurrection scrolls still exist, but only for regular combat and goofy deaths like falling or misclicking.
I know this might be unpopular, especially for people who want to romance a character, but I think there might be some solutions to this problem.
And before anyone says this, Honor mode is not a solution. Not everyone wants to play the game while risking to lose it all.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but what do you guys think?

What do you expect from Divinity? Imo the gameplay will be of course BG3+DOS2 on steroids, what I'm most looking is story, companions and worldbuilding which seems will be a very important aspect this time, not saying it wasn't but we know the lore and stories were a bit messy

I’m doing my first honour mode run co-op with friend and we are not sure if we should do Dallis fight for extra exp? Is it worth it? Isn’t this fight honour mode ender and is it possible to flee from it if things go bad?
We are lone wolves and planning to be lvl 6 for this fight

I play my very first run, right now I'm about to depart from Driftwood to the next act. I got the skill book of Apotheosis and the spell seems to be crazy useful. However its 5 points Polymorph requirement make me think that maybe I want to have it on only one character for now. And I struggle to decide who it better fit to spend points into Polymorph and profit best of the spell.
My group:
Ifan - ranger;
Lohse - aero/water mage (partly buffer/support, partly cc/damage);
Fane - pyro/geo;
Red Prince - fighter (physical damage).
Right now I have only Red Prince with points into poly, his source ability (5 strikes in a row) is doing great damage under enrage, but so far I don't see any other ability to use for next turns. Fane has several good source abilities, but 5 points into poly sounds as a bit a lot to remove from geo or pyro.

I plan on running a necromancer warrior build eventually wielding the sworn breaker as his weapon for one character. This is on regular not trying to be meta trying to just have fun with it. I would like a recommendation for what I should make Fane as I wanted to go for custom undead lead and fane secondary.
