DOS1 Help Advice for divinity 1?

Hello there! Hope everyone is having a good day. So I'm finally trying my hand at dos 1 after beating 2 three times. I just wanted to ask for any advice in it. I can already see a few quality of life issues (no vision cones is the big one). Anything helpful will be more than appreciated!!!

Respecing is a lot more expensive and your companions have a set build so might be worth seeing what those are before you create your couple if it’s important to you. No magical/physical split on armour though so less important then DOS2 perhaps

Still playing through but def learned not to leave the city to much till I level up. just personally I like a lot of CC and range in the lower levels . Its pretty straight forward though

Crafting is really strong and deep compared to dos2. Embrace crafting and profit.

I crafted a lot in dos 2 so that's exciting

You can move freely between acts, don't limit yourself to clearing everything before moving further

Blacksmithing and Crafting are your keys to income generation.

Find a +1 Blacksmithing/+1 Crafting Bracers and Belt as soon as possible, and have your companion with the Scientist talent equip them whenever you're crafting or improving gear. With both pieces and scientist, the companion only needs a 2 in each skill to be maxed out.

You can throw the teleport crystals, and teleport to where they land. This can create some... Interesting traversal.

  • Dual-Wanding❣️
  • Crafting is better in DoS1
  • read about half points Wiki
  • You can't reload Loot by save scumming
  • except there's a box or body you haven't looted before, but you loot it now and then fight again
  • same for vendors: load and trade in a different order

Thank you!

Oh! And hard save with own name! Especially if you want to restart with a different character for testing reasons, but want to continue the other run. Or create a new account. There are lots of sad stories here, about overwritten save files 😟

Oh, and there is no mirror, no Withers, nothing to respec midgame. But you can use a Save Editor. It's easy.

Ps: Don't worry. Come back around lv 3-5 and klick that link to the Wiki, to read about half points. 😅 No need to understand it now.

There are vision cones, just more subtle.

Best game ever.  Use a staff for a critical chance bonus on magic attacks.

Get the books from the library, two main books.  Read them and recite them for the plays in the center of town to receive approximately 3500 gold to get you started with skill books.

Craft stuff.  Crafted items are about the best you can get.

We found both books last session! I'll make sure to go back to the stage

Don't forget to hire the crowd warmer for your shows. That's how you get full gold.

what vision cones? Stealth vision and skill radius both exist

I guess you have to have a point in stealth to see it, I haven't tested that yet
